This is as the title suggests.A very impressive ornately masoned gateway into the old city.As you walk through, you are usually hit by the scent of lavender from the market stall located nearby.

Don't just stick to the centre, wander around the street surrounding the palace and see what you can find. Look at the gate from both sides. Be prepared to explore!!

We managed to visit all of the Palace gates. It is hard to believe that they are still standing after all of these years.

Parallel to the exterior of the eastern wall of Diocletian's Palace is a small bazaar selling everyday goods, produce, crafts and souvenirs. It's a nice stroll in late afternoon and allows access to the Decumanus, the palace's main east-west street, through the Silver Gate.

Whilst on our tour around Old Split our guide pointed out the main gates as we walked around. This gate is very busy as it is near to many market stalls. It is worth trying to visit all the gates.

One of the entrances to Diocletian's Palace-the Silver Gate is surrounded by market stalls full of souvenirs. Close by is the fruit and vegetable piazza. Great photo opportunity.
