EXPERIENCE ROMAN LIFE. Live Museum Split presents some of the most interesting scenes from daily life of Roman citizens. More than 50 artists are working on authenticity and sets so that our visitors can have pure Roman experience. Museum is located on 17th century bastion surrounded by beautiful garden. This location highlights unique experience even more. Come to our museum every day from 10 am to 2 pm. What you can do at our museum? 1. Learn ancient archery skills! You have always wanted to know how hard it is to use a bow and an arrow, have you? (ili: Have you always wanted to know how hard it is to use a bow and an arrow?) Then hurry up to experience it at the Live Museum Split and meet live history in front of your eyes! Master the skills in this classical sport and check them at the Museum while participating in exciting open shooting competitions organized just for you. Museum provides good quality equipment: its offer includes no less than 8 archery targets, and there is a special program if you are coming as a group of friends or a family. 2. Feel spirit of ancient Roman life in live theatre! Experience life at the time of the Emperor Diocletian. Living museum consists of authentic ancient Roman scenery and actors dressed in authentic costumes. You can see and learn about the emperor, senators, patricians, plebeians, soldiers, slaves and gladiators. They have interesting performances, based on historical narratives. Each performance lasts up to fifteen minutes. The museum is open every day, located in the city centre at the bastion "Cornaro", just 50 meters from the Golden Gate of Diocletian's Palace. 3. Become a Roman soldier! Have you ever wondered how it is to carry 15 kilograms (or 33.06 pounds) on your back? Then the Live Museum Split is just the right spot for you! Try to wear ancient Roman armour and have an unforgettable experience as a long-lasting souvenir from Split, get so many likes with unique new profile photo your friends will be thrilled with! You can also learn about the Roman legionaries’ way of life, equipment and weapons of the ancient era, elevating your knowledge of history to a higher level. 4. Shoot from ancient Roman siege weapon called ballista! You haven't heard of ballista yet? Let’s change that! Turn your direction to the Live Museum Split and learn about mighty ancient missile weapon that could launch a large projectile at a 300 meters target! You can take a photo or even try to shoot from our real ballista at the Live Museum Split, in the bastion "Cornaro" near the Statue of Gregory of Nin and Art Gallery. 5. Afternoon workshops 1) Archery and fencing: Introductory archery and fencing group lessons are organized in the afternoon for all true lovers of history and skills requiring precision. All the enthusiastic beginners will learn basic rules and techniques of archery and fencing movements and at the end will have actual practice in both skills if participants are interested in. After successful workshops done, all participants get special diplomas. 2) Roman legions: If you've always wanted to know how hard it was for Diocletian to rule over such a large number of legionaries, if you would be better at that, and who helped Diocletian, then get involved in the workshop which educates all participants about the functioning of the Roman legions, obligations of a legionary, his equipment and weapons. Be in the legionary’s shoes and put his heavy armour on yourself at the end of workshop, and revive the history. 3) Social relations in Roman society: If you don't know who the plebeians and senators were, who wore a toga with a red border, and who was dressed in completely white, we have prepared a workshop specially designed just for you. It will give you a better understanding of how social relations in ancient Roman society functioned. Depending on the participants' wishes, this workshop also includes the revival of the Roman empress and emperor, with an opportunity for the participants to dress in their special imperial togas. If you also want to catch some Latin, then this workshop is ideal for you.
