It has been one of the highlights of our trip in Croatia. The views over the city are probably one of the best views you can find. Even if the queue to the cable car was 30 minutes (with two toddlers), it was still so...More
We chose to stay on for the short wait for the cable car - you get pesterded by Taxi drivers offering a quicker, and cheaper service, but you dont get the views that the accent gives you - even if there is a queue, it...More
My Srd, the mountain behind Dubrovnik offers fantastic views. There are 3 ways to reach the top: hike up, drive/ taxi or ride the gondola. The lower gondola station is just outside Ploce Gate. The gondola is merely a means of moving people. It is...More
Taking the cable car up the mountain provides breathtaking views of the whole area and is an absolute must. While up the top, there is also a museum, a pricey restaurant, a small shop and a short walking track to the Statue of Mary and...More
We drove up to Mt. Sad on a tour and loved the views down to Dubrovnik and out over the Adriatic. Our guide pointed out that we were just a short hike to the Bosnian border and the scene of much fighting during the war...More
I was glad that we had decided to do back-to-back cruises that allowed us two days in Dubrovnik. On our second day we were on our own and decided to travel up to Mount Srd. We were lucky to have a beautiful day and it...More
Best to go here by car or cab. Be aware that if you have your own (rental) car, the road is small. It's a really nice view point to see Dubrovnik in all her glory. There is also a chique bar & restaurant. Enough parking...More
We went up in the cable car, as time-limited and we ate at the Panoramic restaurant for a special occasion. It is definitely worth going up the mountain when in Dubrovnik. If walking, I suggest that you do it when cool and not dark. So,...More
Very nice walk up along the walking trail, which is a bit confusing to find, so get good directions first. There are very nice stations of the cross bronzes along the way, marking each switchback. Path up is not difficult, walking the stairs to get...More

I walked down after dark because I was stupid. I wouldn't recommend it. The path is not super steep, but very rocky and you're risking twisting an ankle. Alternatively, if you don't stay until the sun completely sets (in summer it was still beautiful before dusk), you can depart about 45 minutes before the sun completely sets and make it off the trail before it becomes pitch dark.

Wear soft shoes and not sandles. Carry a litre of water. Stop to take in the views or to catch your breath.
Other people have talked about taking a bus to where the route starts but we walked from where the cable car starts. The route below is the easiest available to get you to where the walking trail starts.
Walk away from where the cable car starts. You will walking on Zabrebacka Street and you will walking against the flow of traffic. Continue up Zabrebacka Street until you reach the second set of steps going up. You are now at Ivana Mazuranica Street.
Climb the stairs until you reach the main road. Cross at the pedestrian crossing and go up the next set of stairs. This is Od Kriza Street. Halfway up, you will reach a “Y” section. Go left.
When you reach the next road, the entrance to the tunnel will be on your right. Cross the road and go to the stairs in the middle of the road.
Cross the next road and you will at the start of the hiking trail.
Take care and enjoy.
