About
With beautiful blue water and great panoramic views of the Old Town and Lokrum Island, Banje Beach is one of the Dubrovnik’s most popular spots amongst locals and travelers. Soak up the sun on the golden sand or get your heart racing on one of the beach’s jet skis or water tubes. The beach is also home to a selection of restaurants and cafés on the waterfront so you don't have to go far to grab a bite or recharge in the shade. If you’re looking for a cocktail or two, head to the beach club, which becomes a busy nightclub at sundown. – Tripadvisor

    Not impressed...
I stayed nearby for a week in June 2023. This beach looks nice from above as you pass by but the reality is that it's a rough, gravel and pebble mix. The water in this area is beautifully clear and great to paddle or swim in. The sun loungers are an eye watering 25 Euros each plus a sun brolly, hence most people put a towel on the floor instead. It gets busy as there's not much competition around here. The main restaurant here was not good for lunch but the drinks are great. I can't say I'd recommend the place but it's there to see.

    Mixed feelings about Banje Beach
The prices for the sunbeds (just to be straight with you): 1 sunbed 25 € Double/larger bed 70/80 € VIP 100€ - And not so VIP when the sunbeds are right by the restaurant and bar, and where people are walking to and from the beach! We chose the sunbed for 70 € because for a family of three it’s a better price than paying for 3 separate sunbeds additional to parasol.. In this price you have included 2 towels and 2 bottles of water; this bottles you have to ask for multiple times before they get them for you. The staff seems very unqualified and unprofessional, they are overlooking so many of the guests or forgetting orders really quick. It doesn’t seem like they care for the customers experience of the place! The food and drinks are overpriced, but that applies for majority of Dubrovnik because it’s a touristic destination. I can recommend the risottos at the beach! Staff and waiters are not service friendly, and don’t meet the “western” standards for me… Note that this beach is closest to the Old Port of Dubrovnik, and traffic from the boats makes the water dirty. You have to swim a little further out to get away from it. The sun also “sets” quicker at the Banje Beach where you pay for sunbeds because of a old historical building nearby. The “beach day” will seem shorther because the sun is gone between 6-7 pm. While at the public area of the beach, have sun atleast a hour longer! In the afternoon the beach gets crowded. Not a big issue, just something to be aware of (July)!

Comfy beds but not worth the price
We headed to the beach for the day as we knew there were sun beds. They are pricey! €58 for two and an umbrella. But they are thick comfy cushions with pillows too. As it was part of a beach club, and we we’re here for big birthday celebrations we splashed out and they we’re very comfortable! Disappointingly the service was poor. There were wait staff moving around the beach but they didn’t respond to any calls of excuse me. We headed to the bar for lunch after failing to flag someone down on the beach and waited around 20 mins to be served followed by a further 15 before we got drinks. It was very busy and it was lunch time, but I did feel like we were invisible at times. When our food eventually arrived it was warm so had clearly been sitting for a while. The calamari was delicious, but it would have been great had it been hotter. Practical note. If you’re going for the day, be aware that the building on the right (if you stand facing the sea) casts a shadow over the beach so beds on that side of the beach are shaded from around 4pm. We had a great day but the service let this place down for the price.

    Small pebble beach, really crowded.
Small pebble beach, a few minutes by foot from Old Town. Can get very crowded during the day in the summer. You are literally inches away from others. You can rent an umbrella for 8 Euros, or go all out and spend a fortune for sun chairs and an umbrella. Resto-bar by the beach. Clear blue water as one would expect in Croatia.

    A lovely beach
A lovely beach just outside of the Old Town complete with beach club/ restaurant. If you opt for the area with the sun loungers and umbrellas then these are costly (€25 per bed and €16 for the umbrella). Or you can go on the other section of the beach where you can put your towel down directly on the pebbly sand which costs you nothing! The beach is partially Sandy but with a lot of pebbles. Beach shoes are recommended especially getting in and out of the water.

Try somewhere else… no service to sunbeds and staff seem uninterested in helping.
Went here just out of convenience and would NOT recommend. Sun beds are overpriced- not cleaned between customers, towels are tiny and wrecked, and we had NO SERVICE. We noticed the server only went to the cute young girls and only asked if we need anything once when we were walking away from the bar with drinks in hand 🙃 Then my friend got his toe smashed by this wobbly wooden walkway thing after a server stepped on it flinging it up- it was bleeding and bruised and the server didn’t even notice. There also was literally no music except inside the restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, the beach and water is beautiful but that’s about all this place has going for it.… not at all what you expect visiting a high end “beach club”.

    Short walk from the walls
Walk from the main gate in the walls about 10 minutes and access by some steep steps . After spending a few days sight seeing it was nice to have some time relaxing and watching the swimmers. We didn’t pay for the expensive sunbeds as we only stayed an hour or so, the rocks to the right side of the bar were full of people on towels and it was a nice spot where you could jump in the sea or watch the many boats in and out of the harbour,

    We enjoyed it!
Not the cheapest place but I feel some of the reviews here are a bit unfair! Great views across to Lokrum island, shingle underfoot so not the nicest of beaches but it served a purpose after a morning of kayaking and we just wanted to chill and have some drinks! We had good waiter service and the cocktails and beer was very good! Really comfortable sunloungers. Short walk from the city walls/old town.

    RIP OFF
Beautiful beach which is public. The restaurant / sun bed staff rude/abrasive and at 25 euro for one sun bed plus 8 euro for the tiniest umbrella is a total tourist rip off. When we went to corgi these were free with purchasing drinks or food. What a shame.

Poor service at the bar and restaurant lets down an otherwise lovely little beach.
Lovely little beach, even if busy at times - a short walk from the Old Town and looking out over Lokrum. White pebbles with crystal clear sea and all the facilities you could want, if you want them. We didn’t hire anything and just used our towels. I imagine it can be heaving in the summer but my only complaint (hence the average rating) is the poor attitude of the staff (most of them it seemed?!) in the bar and restaurant area. We only visited briefly during the peak heat, to enjoy a cold beer or Coke, but the service was always slow and indifferent. At times I could swear waiters were purposely looking every except where customers were waiting to be served. Sometimes you could get the attention of someone and despite them having nothing to do they would go off and find someone else, only for the eventual order to take a long time to arrive too. There are worse things to deal with in life but not ideal when on holiday and paying Dubrovnik prices.

Gravel and pebble beach. Water was refreshing and light blue. It's very crowded. Some people smoke on the beach, disturbing.
Drinks are expensive. View is amazing.

Visited Banje Beach mid week in early June. A typical pebble beach which seems common in Dubrovnik. Despite the previous reviews, the staff were friendly and polite. Sunbeds are expensive but that appears to be the case in this area at €25 per bed and a parasol was €8 so slightly cheaper than St Jacob. The beds however are quite uncomfortable (cheap thin cushions). Drinks are expensive but they have a captive audience. The beach got very busy with most people lying on the stones as the beds are expensive. This beach is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to the steep steps to get to it. All in all an ok beach but I guess Dubrovnik is not known for its beaches.

We really enjoyed this beach for many reasons. It is so close to Old Town that it was such a short walk from where we were staying. They have changing rooms for free that were very convenient. We didn’t want to pay the hefty price for the chairs so we chose to sit on the rocks on our towels. This worked fine for us and many others were also doing it. The water was so clear and blue with a great view of Lokrum island and the city walls. Also had a bathroom inside the restaurant people were using from the beach. We also ate lunch at the restaurant and had good service.

Lovely small beach close to the old town, the water was clear and beautiful, all the family enjoyed swimming and playing in the water and we visited several times during our week stay as it was opposite our accommodation.

The beach bar was lovely, we didn't eat there but food looked good and was priced similarly to other bars in the city. We had drinks several times and the service and facilities were great.

The beach does get busy and isn't huge but we always managed to find a spot to sit, take your beach shoes because it's pebbley. There is a bakery and supermarket for drinks and snacks to take on the beach just before you get to the entrance.

Paddle board hire and sunlounger hire is the most expensive I've ever known on holiday, €20 per hour for paddle boards and sunlongers are €25 for single and €70 for double for the day.

This is the most convenient beach to the old city, so if you are staying in the old town, this is the one you can walk to. It is small and stoney so be prepared. The water seemed clean, lots of boats around.

I almost canceled this due to all the bad reviews. I’m so glad that I didn’t. The place is great! Cleanest most modern bathroom I’ve ever seen. Super nice attendants and bartenders. It is a rocky beach but that’s what they have in Croatia. Gorgeous views and super comfortable chairs. Everything has a price. I thought it was 100% worth it. After touring the old city it was the perfect place to relax unwind and take in the beautiful scenery. Not to mention a cool dip in the sea. You won’t be sorry.

Went here off season for a swim in the still warm-ish water, incredible views and a pretty lovely swim in the waves! Probably not as nice when there's lots of people on the beach, but this was a top beach experience!
