- Addy A8 contributionsNot quite as it is advertised.Staying at the Kompas Hotel Lapad, very nice hotel, absolutely spotless clean, food and staff very good, only slight issue is the hot breakfast, tends to be on the cool side. Hotel overall is well worth a visit be it on the pricey side for drinks and food. Sunset beach area across from the hotel is closed and allowed to go to ruin, bars and restaurants all closed up, grass area all overgrown and full of weeds. We noticed broken glass and litter in that area, no sun beds on or around that area. All pictures we have seen in magazines/ brochures advertise it as a lovely vibrant area, it definitely is not. Lapad Bay and area is beautiful, nice bars and restaurants but at this moment in time Sunset beach area spoils it. Seriously in need of much renovations. What an eyesore for such a nice bay/ area.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 May 2024

The beach is lacking because the person who owned the "Beach" club went broke. - Lyndsay LCarlisle, United Kingdom26 contributionsGo early, beautiful clear waterNice beach in parts. We went early (9:30am) and got sunbeds (€20 each) at the furthest away part of the beach near to the Adriatic food corner. The water was beautiful, warm and clear enough you could see small fish. It wasn't very busy in the morning but got busier as the day went on as you'd expect. We had lunch in the Adriatic food corner, lovely salads, burgers, chicken strips etc. We'd go back but definitely stick to the morning!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 August 2024
- Maria DLondon, United Kingdom127 contributionsSunset beach, LapadStayed in an apartment overlooking the beach and is absolutely stunning. Second stay here and would come back just for the view. The sea is warm and calm and the place has all you need for a relaxing, do nothing type break which is just what we needed. So much nicer than being near the Old Town, which may be pretty to some but is full of drunk yobs and is so crowded and hot that it is a horrible place and definitely not relaxing.Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 September 2024

We stayed near Sunset Beach, Lapad. Fabulous views, Sunsets, plenty of fantastic restaurants, clear shallow sea. It was a perfect balanced holiday as the bus was 15 mins into Dubrovnik old town so we had some city days and some beach days. From the town get ferry 20 mins to Lokrum island... paradise, salty lake to swim in, peacocks and rabbits. Beautiful!

I have an apartment nearby and come every year. The beach operator went bankrupt and the beach is deserted. The city hasn’t stepped up to at least make it safe and tidy for visitors or locals that use the beach area. There is broken glass and garbage blowing around. The beach lounge chairs are stacked up 100m+ away and locked up. The public showers for rinsing off are €1 to use but disconnected. There is nowhere to buy a cold drink or eat unless you walk 200m to the shop up the hill or go to hotel Kompass for a €12 beer. No washrooms! Very sad to see.

Vibrant atmosphere at this beach with everything you need. Sun beds are priced at 16 euros each but I think they were worth it if you are spending the day there. Plenty restaurants and places for a drink. Beautiful scenery.

Was once perhaps a romantic relaxing place but turned out to be anything but relaxing. Most restaurants and beach shacks are permanently closed which makes the beach look like a construction pit. It is overcrowded on the beautiful, small part but the vast majority consists of unromantic concrete blocks.

This beach is one of the most famous in the city and is located about 40 minutes from the historic center, but easily accessible by bus no. 4 that stops right nearby.
Recommended bathing in the morning, both because there are fewer people, and because the water is cleaner (in the afternoon tends to be foamy).

For September 2023 the price is 27 euros two ways. A little expensive.
In my opinion, it's absolutely not worth it.
The island does not amaze you with anything.
If you are vacationing in Dubrovnik and want to take a boat ride and see something else, you can go.
If you're on a cruise or on a day excursion, don't waste your time.
Swim on a nice beach
possible in Dubrovnik.
From the old town to Pile Square,
Bus number 4 goes every half hour to Lapad beach.
Drive 10 minutes. Stop right 50 m to the beach. There's also a supermarket there.
The beach is equipped: there is a bar, umbrellas and sun loungers. Cost 30 euros 2 sun loungers and an umbrella.
But you can pay.
Workers go to collect money 1-2 times a day. In the morning and then after 12.
The rest of the time no one comes.
It is better to take shoes for swimming, but if you are careful, you can do without.
After seeing the sights of the old city, we were very pleased to relax and swim on this beach.

Just finished a week long holiday, staying in Lapad area of Dubrovnik. Great food choices ( although pricey ) , expect to pay around €30 for standard menu choices , or otherwise eat on the go with plenty of street food options. ( I’m to old for that ).
Old city is superb , especially at night.
Sunset beach in Lapad was the biggest disappointment of all. It’s gone to ruin. No sunbeds, all the shops and cafes along the beach area are closed , bar one or two. No signs of it opening for the rest of the ‘24 summer season. Don’t bother with Copacabanna , it’s not worth the trip. €70 for two soft beds and a parasol, and the beach bar is a rip off.
Use Uber or Bolt to get around the city. Regular Taxis are expensive. We paid €20 from Pile gate to Lapad. Uber or Bolt is €5.
Overall, we had a great trip but I fear Lapad will be hit hard if they don’t sort out the beach facilities. Prices in general are way too high , to not have the basic facilities right.

Beach without much interest. Provide shoes for swimming and the necessary equipment to be well installed because only large pebbles or concrete. Otherwise agree to pay for the rental of a deckchair (10€ to 15€ per deckchair).

We are staying in Dubrovnik not far from Banjee Beach. Is it worth us visiting Lapad for nice restaurants and bars or are we just as well to stay where we are
Written 11 August 2019
Hi,there's plenty of cafe, restaurants along the strip before getting to the beach. We are in one, unfortunately forgot the name, but excellent choices and cheaper than any of the sea front cafés/ restaurants. Also a few tourist shop along the way/ side streets.

Hi, I believe lapad beach is a 10 minute walk from Ivka hotel where I’ll be staying in June. I was wondering
a) was anyone selling floatation devices on the beach?
b) if you want to put your phone away, how safe are the lockers and how much do they cost? Do they provide wristbands for opening the lockers?
c) is it warm enough to swim in the afternoon in June and at what time does the water start getting cold and people start heading back?
Thanks
