Lovely place to visit

Lovely place to visit, nice bars and restaurants, the weather wasn't bad for the time of year and taxis are not expensive.

Visited the towns of Sibenik and Zadar. The ancient fortresses of of Sinenik in the old town is well preserved and so as the Baroque Orthodox Church of Zadar. The church of St. Donatus and Cathedral of St. Anastasia. We also saw the canyon-spanning bridge on our way to the old town. Not much to do here and very hot... More

Zadar is deservedly a UNESCO site and after going through the ate one enters another time and place captured in time. That said there are modern and upscale shops, restaurants and places to snack. Take a picture of the gate and look for Venetian influences throughout the City.

Zadar was pleasantly a very nice stop on our RC cruise to the Greek Island. It was clean and a nice visit to the sea organ and the old city

Perhaps we have visited too many places with ancient walls or gates recently, but this one was fine but not spectacular. The eastern section of the old city wall in Zadar was removed to make way for a sea-side promenade - that is actually the better attraction.

I was surprised by the size and condition of the old city. It is absolutely fascinating with its magnificent small narrow streets and wonderful old buildings. You can spend hours there enjoying the wonder of the place and eating great food at the many excellent restaurants. Highly recommend this place.

You will want to visit the Land Gate as early in the day as possible if you want to avoid the throngs of tourists seeking to take 'selfies' with the gate and its Venetian Lion in the background. It is a very cool gate. Cross on the crosswalks, as the cars go fast through the gate.

We stayed in Zadar for 2 nights while getting over our jet lag. We booked a small apartment outside of old town and across the street from Kolovare Beach. We were about a 10 minute walk to old town and it felt very safe. The Old Town was full of character and charm and was the perfect way to start... More

The grandest of the entrances into the Old city of Zadar, the Kopnena Vrata or the Landward Gate is a MUST see on any itinerary. Built in imitation of a Roman Triumphal Arch, it is quite the imposing statement to Venice's long presence on the Dalmatian coast (complete with its own winged Lion of St Mark). The most elaborate of... More

Nice city with old original roman buildings and sight worth seeing. The pedestrian area is also worth walking around.
