Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This site is particularly striking on a sunny day because of all the colourful reflections in the Skurda River. There’s a small park nearby where visitors can sit, relax and marvel at the 13th-14th century Kampana Tower and Citadel. Just a very short distance from the Sea Gate. Really a lovely area.

It worth a visit it is part of the local charm of Kotor Old City. You ca enter to the Old City through the Sea Gate, after that go left to the Kampana Tower, walk to the North Gate and getting back to the Old City. Not in a very hot day, there are few shady places. But it is a must.

Built in the time of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, this 13th - 14th century fortification near the Bay of Kotor gives testament to a time long past. We did see the fortification from our Seabourn Quest ship as we approached Kotor.

One of the bastions of the old city. Quite well preserved, but not very impressive, not being very tall. The area is beautiful, the river that flows next to the bastion gives it an extra charm.

Great photo op on your way to Old Town circa the North Gate. There's a parking lot right next to it (just to the north), so it's easily accessible if you've got your own vehicle. Good first stop before checking out Old Town and walking up the fortress steps (highly recommended).

We walked by the wall and tower every day on our way to the old town. The tower is well designed, and the wall along it beautifully done.

One of the most prominent Bastions on the fortification Walls (13th to 14th century).
This historical fortification system protected the medieval town of Kotor and was inscribed in the list of World Heritage Sites in 1979.

Again a 'Walk by' attraction accessible from a stairway near the North Gate but certainly worthy of a photo.
This Bastion & fortifications date from 10th to 13th century after which the Venetians claimed Kotor/ Cattarro.
This low angled wall fortification is like the 'ground floor', with the wall stepping up the mountainside in impressive fashion.

Dating from the time Kotor was called Cattaro, one of the autonomous Dalmatian city states. Independence ended when Cattaro surrended to the Venetians in 1420. Living in the 1300s security in these areas was a major concern. So the Dalmations invested in these large defense works like the Kampana tower, or rather bastion as it not very high, rather bulky and oblique to make it more difficult to scale with ladders.

Very strategic location and thus very nice views from the top. Easy access from North gate. Illuminated after dark.
