Fantastic views and well worth the climb. For me an hour slow climb is perfect. The whole area has great history and is so well preserved. It's one of the coolest places I've ever been to. Luckily a rainbow appeared over the bay for some stunning shots too.

The views are breath taking! No, for real you are going to be out of breath! It took an hour to walk up the crazy stone stair pathway. The views are so beautiful. Took 30 minutes to get back down. It was a beautiful day outside when we went and even though the legs were wobbly, we enjoyed the trek... More

Let's get this out of the way.........it's a tough climb even if you're in good shape. A minimum of 90 minutes should be set aside for the ascent, but 2 hours is better. Some of the way has been repaired and it's easy to climb the stone steps. However, the further up you go the more areas of rubble and... More

The trip to the castle is a lot of walking, it's good to start it early in the morning. The sell water along the climb, but is expensive so bring your own. Once you get there you will not want to leave. The view from the top is amazing. The climb is worthed.

For a person without physical condition, like me, it is pretty difficult to climb, but the panorama from above is incredible. I went up in the morning and down around noon, when the heat already take control. If you are unfit, than climb only in the morning beacause if it is hot, you can have medical problems.

A walk up a hill with about 1600 steps. A fit person can do it in half an hour but an unfit person can also get up, maybe in 90 minutes with a lot of breaks. It is well worth it for the views you get.

That is a must in Kotor. The fortress is about 260m above the ground and there is nearly 1350 stairs to reach there. So it's better for you to take the walking early in the morning or late in the afternoon. I think late hours would be better because when it gets dark and the lights are starting to illuminate... The hike up is not easy and it definitely wouldn't pass safety inspections in the US, but its so worth it for the views at the top and throughout the hike up. The Bay of Kotor is truly one of the most beautiful sites I've ever been to and the castle may be the best spot to view it from... More

Breathtaking views. This ancient city is definately worth visiting. We only stopped as a port visit but would love to go back. Friendly folks, great food, neat shops. The city is well worth walking as it is beautiful around every corner.
