As well as admiring Ottoman architecture, we wanted to remind ourselves of the damage caused during the war. Dotted throughout the Old Town are buildings with shrapnel damage but this building was a sombre reminder of the damage done.

The former Hotel Neretva has been a gutted ruin since the war and sits along the river at Most Musala near the Turkish Bath. It is very striking to see and an important reminder of the horrors and destruction of the war. When I was...More

This building is the middle of the city centre and is a reminder of the Bosnian war. It’s a beautiful building preserved in time. Against a backdrop of colourful houses up on the hill, this is the perfect photo opportunity. Worth the small walk to...More

Didn't get to see this place up close and personal, but passed by it very slowly it a few times. At first glance, of course it looked like just a run-down building, but find out about its history and you'll probably be gobsmacked. Let your...More

We arrived at the bus station and walked through the city to reach our lodgings. Seeing the battered building and the bullet holes brought me to the realities and brutality of war. Yes I've read about it in the books but seeing such a bullet...More

I had read about this hotel and wanted to see it when in Mostar. It's a little walk from the bazaar next to the second bridge N of the Old Bridge. Nothing left to the hotel but the remnants of a horrible war that everyone...More

This small hotel was very nice and once most famous in Mostar (still, I do not remember it as a good hotel as in socialist times it lost its glamour). It was sold to private person more than 10 years ago, but the city prevented...More

The former hotel, also called Tito's Palace cannot be visited from the inside. The ruins are a famous landmark in Mostar as a symbol of the war in the 1990's.

The ruins of the Neretva hotel give an insight into the ferocity of the fighting that went on here during the break up of the former Yugoslavia. The Nevetva was once the fineset hotel in Mostar and you can still see traces of its Austro-Hungarian...More

This building, like many others in Mostar, is a reminder of the destruction that was wrought during the civil wars of 1992-95. Although poignant it is worth walking past to see how far the city has come.
