We visited to see the ballet Swan Lake. It was in a beautiful setting, and everybody could see very well. The acoustics are marvellous. There is a faint hamlets traffic noise and local noise but once the orchestra started it was pretty much drowned out....More

The theatre is Uber cool both to look at from the street outside (free!) Or to explore inside for 5 leva each. You can spend about half an hour to 40 mins mooching round - depending on how many pics you take! It's more interesting...More

Not worth the money... it takes about 10 min and you are done. BUT I heard that they have theaters and Operas preferences there which I haven’t been in and that I think is another story.

Hard to believe how old these ruins are and what great condition they are in. The Romans were very good and buildings things to last. And how clever of the town to now hold concerts and other events in the theatre. Fantastic.

This must be the poster child of the City and it is worth walking up the hill through the cobble stone old town to reach it. Having visited similar Ampitheatre in Sicily whuch was set againt the sea this one in Plodiv is less appealing....More

A couple of thousand years old but still full of magic. So special (and excellent in the acoustics) that superstars like Michael Jackson or Sting gave concerts here. Go there and experience on your own!

The amphitheatre is pictured on nearly every brochure in the hotel lobbies around Plovdiv, and is a major attraction and a genuine "must-visit". The amphitheatre looks incredible at close quarters, and is still in regular use. We watched a traditional Bulgarian concert as the sun...More

Well preserved amphitheatre, and definitely worth a visit. Very hot, and with virtually no shade, and when we visited the back areas were not accessible (not sure if this was because they were preparing for a show, or if this is normal the case).

What a place what a performance. This was my first visit to this ancient Roman Theatre and the experience exceeded my expectations! Must visit - highly recommended 🙌🎼🎼🎼

The Roman amphitheater is still used and was, in fact being prepared for an event. The equipment got in the way of the natural setting, which is why we rated this attraction 4 and not 5. Recommend.

I used Dinars in Serbia. I have not been to Romania; only saw it across the Danube river.

I haven't seen a ramp for wheelchairs and in general the access to the place to start with will be very tricky - the old town is mostly laid with cobble stones and on foot it can be tricky, let alone with a helping vehicle... More
