Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was only able to see outside because you need 10 people for a tour.

Was bit disappointed about this.

It’s also badly signposted - ended up getting instructions from a priest I disturbed!

Hope to go another time as it looked like it would be interesting!

My friends and I stopped by this site when looking around Brasov, and were invited to join a school tour by two very friendly guides. Ioan in particular was lovely, very passionate and inclusive. We even got sung the Romanian national anthem to by the group of children. We learnt more about Romanian culture and even got nice souvenirs.

It was a 10/10 experience and I would recommend everyone to come to this lovely attraction.

A must to visit when in Brasov. The visit to First Romanian School has easily placed its self in top 3 visits I enjoyed during my stay in Brasov. The tour is held by a very knowledgeable guide who has the gift of presenting everything in a very catchy manner and is open to answer your questions.

tours only happen when there are at least 10+ visitors
but I will never find out if that is enforced bc the location is locked 1.5h before its scheduled closed time

A gem of a place with tours led by a passionate and knowledgeable guide, whose voice is made for story telling. Memorable and cosy, this experience gives an insight into Romanian history, particularly linguistic; it's where the Romanian national anthem was first printed.
Many thanks for accommodating us, Ioan, you were generous with your knowledge and your time.

Very interesting tour, especially the presentation of the guide (Ioan). Ioan has the ability to catch your attention with interesting and important information and with nice jokes in between. Received a nice photo at the desk :). Would definitely recommend attending the First school! I have even received homework to do :). Great guide and tour!

The First Romanian School is an interesting place to visit. Our host explained its significance and gave us a guided tour of the rare books on display upstairs. It is well worth a visit.

We visited as part of a tour and were expecting to stay about 20mins. In reality we were there over an hour. We saw the old school room and all had the opportunity to write with old fashioned dip pen and ink. The museum host was very passionate about his subject and really made the visit interesting.

The 1st Romanian school - a very interesting museum in Brasov ... where you will learn about the beginnings of teaching in Romanian, about the 1st books printed in the Romanian language , about the work of "Deacon" Coresi , about the birth of the current Romanian anthem ... a great place overall and a true cultural treasure.
This place is the house of very old books and relevant memorabilia about Romania and the Romanian language itself.
The custodian and guide Mr. Ioan is a great story teller and his speech is very entertaining and interactive, he is definitely making a difference when you pay a visit to this place.
You will also understand the reference and meaning of the "First Romanian School" and how this figure of speech is linked to this particular place you are visiting and how that is linked to the city of Brasov. I will not kill pleasure of finding out by yourself.
The entry ticket is well worth it - 20 Ron - about 4 Euro is nothing compared to the experience you receive in return.
Overall one of the best presentation I've seen from any tour guide so I recommend you pay this place a visit.

The first school of Romania, first as in the best. Upstairs are really rare books and bibels. We were lucky enough to arrive when a guide was starting to describe the treasures. Very interesting! Just a 10-15 walk from the main square. Definitely worth a visit.
