Relatively new discoveries found a system of cisterns that made potable water available for old Alexandria. If you are a tourist, you will need an official tourist company with an official tour guide to reach the place and to explain for you every relevant thing.

The cisterns of Alexandria is the memory of Otthoman domination over Egypt. Theses turkish pacha lived there and always look to the see to check if any enemy is coming. U must to take a tour guide otherwise u ll won't understand the meaning of each rooms ruins.
