I am very sad to say that this mosque is a dangerous place to visit. I am Muslim and I wish for all mosques to be clean and safe, but this isn't. There are drug deals going on around it. Somehow this glorious place has been allowed to fall into disrepair and ruin. If you still feel you need to... More

The Arabs really show their love to G-d on the exceptional detail deco with which they cover their Mosque, this is a clear example of it. Ladys, please respect other cultures, be aware that here women enter ONLY when they can cover their head, and wear long skirts/pants and sleves. you will only be able to enter on a secondary... A famous mosque in Alexandria, Egypt. Dedicated to El-Mursi Abul Abbas whose tomb is inside. It is located in the Anfoushi neighborhood of Alexandria, near the Citadel of Qaitbay. If you are interested into Islamic architecture it is good to visit. Not as impressive as many of the Cairo mosques. However, it is the only one in Alexandria.

The mosque is a typical mamluki style mosque with beatiful architecture and nice cielings. It hosts the tomb of one of the most known Sufis of Egypt. Worth a visit if you are nearby

Splendid architecture. The entrance door is worth seeing. The craftsmanship shows in the mosque. What I did not like is the surroundings. It was very filthy with dirt all around. The priest was not very friendly, as if he wanted to pull you inside the mosque. I am not sure why he does that to every tourist.

A nice place to get away from the hectic city life, although it doesn't hold a candle to the architecture and atmosphere of Cairo mosques.

Worth dropping in for 10 minutes to see the outside architecture and the ceilings but the Mosque is not as interesting as the Alabaster mosque in Cairo.

El-Mursi Abu al Abbas Mosque is a calm and tranquil place situated between the hustling traffic of Alex. It is a bit confusing as there is another small mosque before it i.e. of Imam Buseri. If you want to pray there you have to use the ablution area at Imam Buseri Mosque which is quite bad: leaking taps, bad slippers... More
