Built in 4th cent, it has several churches that have been upgraded several times and renovations are still ongoing. New murals were uncovered recently. It's like a fortress, with a drawbridge and a walled off complex within the ramparts. Bishoy's body is still there and...More

One of the most amazing places in Egypt and the world. An ancient Coptic monastery. The spirit of very old churches and the monks in the middle of the dessert.

If you want to go back in history to the fourth century, then go and visit that monenstary. There you will see Anba Bishoi's cell, where he used to pray all night long to be in the presence of the Lord.

This is a real treasure of Coptic Egypt, which includes the tomb of Pope Shenouda. The monks were so friendly, especially Fr. Ezra.

The architecture of the monastery makes wonder how it was built out of desert sands. Inside, you can feel the holiness of the place by just looking at the paintings.

A beautiful monastery surrounded by other beautiful monasteries. This place was lovely to walk through, but the man who showed us around was not overly friendly.

Went there by car, and it is a spiritual place you can have some internal peace during your visit and beyond. It is old monastery since 4th century and you will be amazed about icons, old saints tombs, and everything. Recommended
