About
Chateau Ksara, the country's oldest winery, founded in 1857 by Jesuit Fathers. In August 1973, sold to a consortium of Lebanese businessmen Chateau Ksara's motto is "Modernity in Tradition". It is an idea that captures perfectly our position as Lebanon's oldest winery and the pioneering spirit that has kept Chateau Ksara at the forefront of Lebanon's wine industry, for over 156 years. Today's wine drinkers are both informed and discerning, and therefore we are committed to producing quality wines - varietals and blends made from our 25 local and international varieties - that will satisfy all palates and suit all occasions. Not only are our wines made to the most exacting standards with state of the art equipment, they also reflect the terroir of the Lebanon's historic Bekaa Valley, an area that has been making wine for over 2,000 years. It is a legacy that we respect with every bottle we make. Brand values The name of Chateau Ksara has become associated with the three core values: tradition, nobility and modernity. These are emphasized through name and lineage (tradition); through a high-quality product (nobility) and the tremendous innovative advances made since 1991 (modernity). The winery offers tours of its storage facilities, which are carved deep into the rock, and tastings. From the outside, the building looks almost like a Swiss alpine hut. Inside, the severed and stuffed heads of hunted deer hang. There was once a monastery here, which is where wine production began. Today, the winery belongs to four families from the area.
You can watch a film documentary to get you in the mood. We skipped that. A friendly guide accompanied us into the deep, dark and cool shafts in which thousands of bottles and wooden barrels are stored. It takes less than half an hour.
After that, there was a tasting of four of the winery's wines with a short explanation. The winery's own shop offers the opportunity to buy them.
The price is around US$6.00, making it affordable.

The place is really amazing, but be careful with the options: we bought option for 10 000 LL (middle one) BUT the lady from the reception didn't inform the guide so we went with the group, which bought the basic (5 000 LL)... We also skip the documentary movie, because once again lady from the reception said (without asking us :( that we don't want to watch it. At the end the guide recognised that it was huge mistake, but well... It should not happen.

My wife and I recently visited Chateau Ksara in Lebanon, and it was an extraordinary experience, largely thanks to our fantastic tour guide, Elise.

Elise's knowledge and passion for the winemaking process and the history of Chateau Ksara were exceptional. She brought the rich heritage of the vineyard to life with captivating storytelling and a deep understanding of every detail.

Elise expertly guided us through the vineyards, sharing insights into the region's terroir and grape varietals. Inside the cellar, she made the winemaking process accessible and fascinating, even for newcomers to wine.

The wine tasting was a highlight, with Elise's guidance allowing us to savor the intricate flavors and aromas of Chateau Ksara's wines. Her warm hospitality and willingness to answer our questions made us feel like valued guests.

a very good tour with very interesting sites and very interesting information. however, the ladies in the reception and the shop are very agitated bordering on irritated by the visitors; UNLESS you purchase a large bottle or bottles. in the reception instead of trying to instruct and organize visitors they want to know the minute you approach them what you want. im talking about the wine tasting experience you have the chance to do. i found them very annoyed by our presence ( i was visiting with a group ). i bought the very small bottles of arak ( KSARAK ) and when i asked for price the lady told me a higher one. it s good that they had price tags at the back and i corrected her. however, i do recommend it, it s a beautiful experience. you have to make an appointment before you visit.

Great experience! Had some trouble at the restaurant with the service and the orders but the same was resolved professionally and swiftly by Elio. We had wine tasting with Reine who is pure positive energy and very knowledgeable! We learned so much about wine and enjoyed every second of the tour and tasting. Marienne at reception had great management skills and was very professional, much respect to her.

Excellent place. The tour was outstanding and the wine tasting exceptional. The winery is very well organized. It's really a beautiful and charming place. Will definitely return. After a long drive with my tour guide, it really felt like an oasis in the desert.

We had a reservation, but when we arrived there was a reluctance to serve us and take the tour. After a lot of conversation, they allowed Mira to take the tour with us. She was very kind and explained everything carefully! Complex wines, very well made!

It was great. Bought a lot of wine. Everyone is so nice and friendly there. I took a tour back in July with a very nice tour guide named Aymen but he doesn’t work there anymore. Would’ve loved to say hi. Overall, great wine and great history.
