It's pricey, 50 dirham to go from Dubai Marina to Al Ghubabia and it takes 2 hours, along with only a couple of departure times. Whereas the metro will take about an hour and is 5 dirham. You'll get a view of the Palm and Burj Al Arab so that's pretty good.

Although it doesn't run that often it is a great way to do a bit of sightseeing and get around. We took the trip from Dubai Marina to the Creek where you can wander through the souk and parts of old Dubai. Well worth doing if you haven't tried it.

Nice indoor and outdoors area, must be sure sea is calm to enjoy the trip beat to go around Dubai Marina and the Palm Jumeirah.

I had a few hours after work before heading to the airport. I was staying in Festival City so caught the little ferry from outside the Mall to Al Jaddaf Station (AED5) which runs every 10 mins. From there catch the Water Canal Ferry (AED50) towards the Dubai Canal Station: calling at Dubai Design District, Al Wajeha Al Maeyah, and... More

Cheap way to see the Marina and get close to the Palm and maybe take a few fotos with the Atlantis hotel on the background. We took the 5 o'clock one, 25 dirhams each I think, a short, pleasant ride.

We did the trip out to The Palms and paid the extra 25 Dirhams am per person to get Gold Coast. Great decision we were at the front of the boat, nicer seats but also closed off from the rest of the passengers and only a few seats so not as noisy, no screaming kids and opp for window seats.... The night ferry is hopeless. You cant see any thing outside from lower deck. The vegetarian food is tasteless and no verity offered.

Starts from right near the Souk and Museum, and then finished at the marina. It goes some great views of the city, including fantastic close ups of the Burj Al Arab and the Palm island. A bit hard to find some info on it but the best website I've found is dubai-ferry(dot)com

Ferry is a nice way to get a view of the city from the coast. It is air conditioned and fast. We took it from Al Ghubaiba to marina and it was a nice experience. The only minus is that it has a small outside area, where everybody goes out to see the views, so it gets crowded.

There is a 7km walk around the Marina but if you don't feel up to walking this will get you across and around to several key areas and restaurants and bars. Cheap and efficient.

Staying in The Marina

Neighbourhood Profile
The Marina
It’s hard to believe that only a decade ago there was no marina. Opened in 2003, the man-made marina runs along a 3km stretch of shoreline. A heady mix of luxurious hotels, apartment buildings, and cafes, the marina hosts regular community events and markets, and is a wonderful place to while away an afternoon or evening. Spectacular at night when the skyscrapers glisten, here you can enjoy dinner on the beach next to the sea, or visit a high-rise bar in a hotel for a magnificent view across the Gulf and the man-made Palm Island, with the world-famous Atlantis Hotel at its end. The Walk at Jumeirah beach Residences is a pedestrianized stretch leading to a new development: The Beach. It’s one of the few places where Gulf nationals mix with tourists and Western ex-pats. It’s a popular place to show off your supercar for an evening, so watch out for Lamborghinis, Maseratis, and Ferraris in abundance.
