Interesting merge between Old and New Dubai

You have got to try the water taxi experience and visit downtown Dubai along with its Museum... It is a area full interesting things to do and buy... Traditional stuff, basically.

Arrive at Al Ras metro station, walk 5 min to Deira old souk water station, take a boat ride across the creek for AED 1, check out the other side of the creek. On the way back you can stop by gold and spice bazaar. Gold bazaar is huge! You can get great deals on jewelry. Bargain! Bargain! Bargain!

Although it's only a few minutes to ride in the boat but it was a nice experience. And lot's of birds flying near the small boat. Beautiful sights and very cheap. Lots to do in the area.

Stayed in Sheraton with views over the Creek. Walked along quay a few times really interesting. Colourful boats at night cruising up and down.

I love going to the Dubai creek to see the dinner cruise boats with their lights and music on a waterway that's organised and busy so there's always lots to see. There's an abra that takes you one side to the other for Dhs 2.00 and there's souks, shops and restaurants of the old style to visit - just a... More

Our Hotel was situated on the Creek. Magnificent views day and night. Very cheap go across the Creek in one of the local water taxis. To add to our already amazing holiday we had a evening meal and cruise on the creek.

Great view at the creek. Our tour guide only allowed us to a short visit. However, lots of shops and eateries nearby the creek. We took a few pictures.

I really enjoyed seeing Old Dubai. After coming from India, it wasn't much different, but it was still neat to see the local people. The creek and water taxis are a must. Some great photos.

Staying in The Creek

Neighbourhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.
