Yes this is away from the main attractions but you can easily get around following a little research and/or help from hotel staff. Night time views, dhow trips, walks along the creek side are all memorable moments

No matter how long you stay in Dubai - The creek is a must see when you are here - if you want to see it busy, come in the evening, if not, morning is the best time

Best part was to walk along the creek and watch life on the creek, and the loading af the cargo ships, manual labour all the way. Hired an abra for a private tour, 100AED for 1 hour, went to the floating bridge and back. Nice views towards both banks. A bit disappointed with the souks as the sellers were extremely... More

A more relaxing side of Dubai. Love how they've lit up the bridge. Can't really complain here... pleasant boat ride on one visit and another visit to a bar on the creekside. Open air, relaxing and a sense of 'old dubai'. Loved it each time.

We visited Dubai Creek not really knowing what to expect. What we got was an amazing breakfast in local café. Then we got on a little boat to cross water to the gold souk and the spice souk where the smells and colours were so intence.

We took the metro to the area and then walked to the ferry area. It is a great place to people watch or shop in the markets. The shopkeepers are not shy! You catch a ferry over to the other side of the creek to the spice market which is very entertaining. The trip only costs 1 Durham and well... More

This was a highlight of the day for my kids. They loved the little wooden water taxis over to the souks. My son, 7, loved bargaining with the vendors over little souvenirs. The watch and purse guys were a bit annoying after awhile, but still worth it!

This is another "must do" while in Dubai. Lots of history at Dubai Creek and you can also take a boat cruise right before sunset and the views are stunning. We really enjoyed it so much that it was an unexpected highlight of our trip.

Quite a good way to see a bit of Dubai. Authentic, noisy and used by all and sundry. Close to the gold souk.

Staying in The Creek

Neighbourhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.
