About
As one of the Emirates' oldest traditional markets, Dubai Gold Souk has over 350 retailers trading tax-free gold of different carats, designs and weights. There are also precious stones, strings of pearls, platinum and silver available here. You can bargain at the market, and enjoy better rates when paying in cash. To reach the Gold Souk, you can take an inexpensive abra ride across Dubai Creek, and combine your visit with nearby attractions like the Bur Dubai Grand Mosque, Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood and Al Seef.

- Dave AChristchurch, New Zealand345 contributionsA must see in DubaiWow, so much gold to see. A real eye opener. We had a great morning exploring the souk, both window shopping and bartering. The prices were reasonable and the shops were keen to strike a deal. The gold souk is a must see in Dubai.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 6 October 2023

Be prepared to be overwhelmed by this bustling market and bendors who wish to draw you in to your store. Hard to know which shop to enter but enter we did. My travel partner was looking for gold hoops and the salesman was very helpful. It certainly helped that he spoke english, which you will find with most retailers. Gold was weighed and the price reflected the market price/ounce that day, something to check on line before you venture out to shop gold. Bargaining is expected so don't be shy. A kind of Ali Baba's cave, consisting of two roofed streets, with a total length of approximately 250m. Here there are a lot of small shops that sell all kinds of jewelry, some of them beautiful, but also a lot of creepy kitsch. Tens of kilograms of gold.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 15 December 2023
- Fadilah FapusAbuja, Nigeria381 contributionsGOLD SOUKFrom the name, the ambiance! Gold souk is everything! The only place ine can find any kind of gold at the cheapest prices in the world! Just be sure to bargain. Any price they give you can be bargained to get a good deal. Also try to look for shops that charge little or no maker's price if you are buying jewelry. If not, then buy a gold coin or bar. Gold is an absolute best investment. My favorite gold shop is and still remains Al romaizanVisited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 13 January 2024

- stevebintleyBedford, United Kingdom8,887 contributionsA bit repetitiveDespite being located in the Old City area this souk doesn’t have the historic vibe I was hoping for and feels a lot more commercial now, with most of the stores selling the same stuff at the same prices. Having said that though, if was far less ‘pushy’ than I was expecting and the staff in many stores were happy to engage in conversation and offer advice, with no expectation to make a purchase. The same can’t be said for some of the adjacent clothing streets but if you stick to the main areas it’s fine. Definitely somewhere you should visit on a a trip to the city and there are good purchases and bargains to be found if you want.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 March 2024
- RC234Devon, United Kingdom59 contributionsBe prepared...Be prepared to be approached every few metres here - by men offering to take you to see "fake designer" items. If agreed to go with them, you will most likely be led down an alleyway and then up a few flights of stairs (or up in a very old and unsafe lift...). We went prepared for this and, must admit, did want to check it out. However, I would not be doing this again as some 'shops' did feel unsafe and intimidating...one was hidden behind a bookcase. We did get given a bottle of water each from one shop which was nice of them. The intimidation and concern for safety made me wonder what would happen if we did not buy anything - however, upon testing this out, we weren't made to feel unsafe for not buying. The sense of relief I got when we made it out of these 'shops' and back into the market was incredible. Interaction with people around the main market was good and we did not feel pressured to purchase (although we did).Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 March 2024
- BENLEE123Singapore, Singapore1,856 contributionsRe : Worth a visit just for experienceI heard about Dubai's golden souk so often that a trip is necessary to see what's it about, despite not really being a jewellery person. The golden souk is a traditional arabic open market with lots and lots of shops selling gold and diamond jewellery, precious gem stones and the likes but mostly, they sell full gold jewellery, lots and lots of them. In fact, I think there's more gold in here probably than most gold mines. By and large, most of the shops sell the same pieces but there are some special and unique designs. Haggling is necessary when one wish to buy something, as the official price leave a lot of room for bargaining. Most of the shop assistant and owners are friendly and helpful but there are some that can be a bit too pushy and if that's the case just walk away. Also, take your time to look around to shop for the best deal and don't be pressured into any purchase. There are street hustlers trying to offer fake rolex and the likes and while there are many of them, just wave them away and they won't bother you. As for whether to trust the shops here for large amount purchase, I will say better proceed with caution. For any substantial amount, like say 5 thousand or more, it's better to ask for independent verification of the gold quality and as I understand this service is provided in the Gold Souk. Also, as gold trading is highly regulated and monitored in Dubai, it's very unlikely any of the shops were dared to sell fake gold. However, the craftsman ship but not be up to par so check and buy at your own risk. Overall still an eye-opening experience and worth a visit.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 7 April 2024

Let me set the tone of this review by saying, “Welcome, my friend, madamè!” This was the bustling greetings as we hopped off the Abra onto the famous Souk market area.
The cleanliness is beyond belief - it didn’t look not smell like a typical market place at all.
Honestly, the throng of merchants calling you from every store-front was overwhelming at first. Then the negotiator and hustler in me rose up....rose up to the challenge of negotiating prices for anything and everything I laid my eyes and hands on.
This was more for fun than budgetary limitations, fun as it was it left me exhausted, I have to admit.
Tip 1 💡
Please wear comfortable shoes and loose fitting clothes
Tip 2 💡
First take a walk around and eye out what you would like to buy, this place is vested with memorabilia gifts for family and friends
Tip 3 💡
Make sure you have a filling meal prior and carry a decent bottle of water to stay hydrated
Tip 4 💡
Have fun!!! This is a joyous occasion and try make friends whilst scrambling through miniature Burj Khalifa statues and charm bracelets.
Overall, as in the rest of UAE you can leave your taser at the hotel, the Souk markets are very safe! Including “Plastic money safety!”
Hope this helps 😉

In late 2019 I purchased an expensive platinum & diamond engagement ring from DGB Diamonds LLC - Shop no.6 Belselah Gold Centre Old Gold Souk. They even had a “good customer” from my country that they rang to reassure me by phone they were a reputable business.
Less than 8 weeks later and with minimal wear the ring setting failed and cracked. I contacted the shop and told them what had happened. They requested I email them pictures which I did that day. They failed to respond to the email so I again contacted them the following day. They requested I bring the ring back to them for them to “look” at and “see why this has happened”. (The splitting was clearly visible in the photos I emailed) It is not an option for me to call to the shop in person as I am no longer in Dubai and I explained this to them. Again there was no reply from them. I followed up with them again over the next 2 days and asked them would they consider contacting someone in my country to “look” at it on their behalf? Or would they cover the cost if I were to get it sorted myself. They refused both of my suggestions and asked if I had a friend that would be traveling to Dubai?! Which I don’t and even if I had I would not be comfortable with dragging them into this terrible situation and at this point I am still to embarrassed and upset to tell anyone what happened to my ring. DGB said they would have someone traveling from Manchester in 4 months time who would take it to them for me. 3 problems here for me are 1) I would be giving my ring to a complete stranger and trusting they would deliver it to the shop 2) Manchester is in a different country to me 3) This is my new engagement ring, I want it now not in 5 months time!
The bottom line to my experience is steer clear of DGB Diamonds LLC Shop no.6 Belselah Gold Centre Old Gold Souk Dubai Unless you want to spend a lot of money on a piece of jewelry to keep in a box. I will post a pic of the business card later so you know the brand/shop name to avoid.

Unless you have very deep pockets, you probably won't find yourself buying anything in the Gold Souk. But it's worth searching for this area of shops and exploring a bit. The craftmanship of some of the gold pieces is truly mind-boggling!! Exquisite beauty!! But, who can afford and who would ever wear??

The Gold Souk was not I heard from other travelers who visited it. Hoping for a better price to buy gold, I was completely disappointed. The making charges are way high than you get from local shops in UAE. Shop owners drags people into the shop even if they say no. If you do not seem to be like a buyer, shop owners don't respect you. Extremely crowded and very difficult to find taxi. Definitely skip it for other attractions if you do not have time.

Like the nearby Spice Souq, the Gold Souq is a chaotic marketplace where you can expect to be called out by many a hawker. The covered avenues do feel wider and more open here, and there are a couple of fascinating shop displays, given the more upmarket clientele. Still, I wouldn't recommend staying long unless you're in for some serious shopping, and if so, you'll want to exercise caution in order not to buy any unwanted counterfeits.

Array of shops and displays that dazzle, it overpowers your senses very quickly. Unless you are really loaded and want to buy some obscene amount of gold, for a causal stroller or small buyer, you will find it hard to decide which shop you should go to. Off course there are the named shops and then many smaller ones too.
Most shops want you to shop with cash and offer lower rates for cash. If you are a tourist, do take your passport along for VAT refund at the airport.

I love to haggle and my wife wanted to visit and see if there was anything she would like. We spent a few hours going from store to store and I haggled with a few of them and finally got the price we wanted on a bracelet. Make sure to avoid the people that walk up to you trying to sell you gold or silver. They are not legit and will try to sell you fake gold and silver. The only thing they sell that you might want to buy if fake luxury goods. For those, make sure to reduce the price by 75% and start there.

Great wee area to visit - amazing displays in shop windows and not too much touting for business. Be aware that gold is sold at the going ounce rate so don’t expect too many bargains - easy to get to and taxis are always hovering around. Very busy so wise to go early. Not just gold on offer but tourist shops as well, and the obligatory copy bags and watches - well worth a visit!

is it better to drive or take the metro to the Gold Souk from Jumara lakes
Written 5 December 2023
It will take just over an hour to get there by Metro but it is relatively inexpensive and easy. You can get there by Uber/Taxi in 35-70 minutes depending on traffic but it will of course cost much more. Taking the Metro red line and then an Abra across Dubai Creek makes for a good experience if you have the time

Yes, there’s plenty of choice. Was there last week, and found the gold prices quite expensive. Didn’t enquire about the silver so cant help with price comparison on this. The sellers were not too pushy or aggressive. Take some coins as the public toilets are payable at 4 Dirhams !
