    Amazing but surprisingly poorly connected
We stayed on the Palm during a recent visit and it is an absolute engineering marvel - a fantastic destination which is worth a visit to understand the sheer scale of things (best appreciated by an aerial view) We were surprised however at how poorly connected it is via public transport. From where we were staying on the Palm, the public transport option involved a not inconsiderable walk to the monorail, which connects with a tram, which then connects with the main metro line. It really was a faff and so we chose either to get a taxi straight to downtown or take a taxi to the nearest metro station which wasn't particularly close. We ended up spending a fortune on taxis because of this - given how good the general infrastructure is in Dubai we were surprised at just how isolated one of its main attractions, was.

We were keen to visit to check out the restaurants at the hotel before booking and to get an idea of the ambience.
What a disaster. Despite the website shouting about how many things there are to do on a day trip to The Atlantis, the security guards were absolutely set on restricting access to visitors.
So you can’t rock up to see what it’s like before you part with your hard- earned cash. And you’re very much made to feel like second class citizens.
We ended up reluctantly booking to dine at Heston’s latest restaurant- at The Atlantis Royal. And very nearly left as the place is so unwelcoming if you’re not a hotel guest. But eventually we chose to go as there was a really good deal on.
PLeased we did as the restaurant was actually spot on.
But don’t come to The Atlantis unless you are pre booked. As they’re not the friendliest.

The Palm Jumeirah is a prime example of an man made marvel. Probably the world's biggest artificially created island which houses some of the most expensive & lavish residences with private beaches. The famous Palm Atlantis hotel is also located on the Palm Jumeirah & provides a panoramic view of the sea. One should take a ride on the Palm Jumeirah monorail to enjoy the view.

Palm Jumeirah is the first of the three Palm Islands and for this reason is perhaps the most famous. There's no need to paint his uniqueness, and that's how it's known. Meanwhile, Palm Jumeirah appeared to be more efficient from the top of the plane's window than directly from the island. Maybe it just seemed...

All good and beautiful from afar.
Whilst you are at the Palm, it's just another set of streets, villas and shops. You can drive in or use the monorail. I would recommend the monorail for the only redeemable sight seeing opportunity. Way too overcrowded on public holidays. Again, nothing fancy apart from the fact of just setting your foot on a man made island.

Palm Jumeirah is the grandest of the grand projects in Dubai. It's the largest man made island in the world, and it can be seen from outer space. It took 6 years and 12 billion US dollars to build. It has a monorail running up its spine which ends at the impressive Atlantis Hotel. And, it's not the only man-made island in Dubai. There are several others in various stages of construction. If you want to see it from above, go visit the “View at the Palm”, a 240 meter high viewpoint of the entire island, located on the 52nd floor of the Palm Tower Hotel.
It's definitely a must-see attraction while in Dubai.

In principle, I liked the place. A nice promenade where you can walk and take interesting photos (much more beautiful in the evening). Nothing unusual, but I recommend visiting at least once.
I liked the tram to the monorail and the monorail itself much more. I heard from friends that the view of Palma from above is much more interesting. Unfortunately, we did not have time to visit the observation deck.

One of the engineering and architectural feats of Dubai, Palm Jumeirah should at least be visited. The artificial island in form of a giant palm tree features top end residences, luxury hotels, the giant Atlantis hotel and the brand new ultra luxury Atlantis The Royal. There is a monorail with four stops, a very convenient means to get around, and the day pass is not expensive. A water park and aquarium caters for families with kids.

Took a bus tour to get out and about. This man made island is very impressive. Quite busy and seems just about complete with not a lot of vacant real estate. Some of the architecture is rather stunning as well. Well worth the visit.
