Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

Just the view beside the fountains

One of the great place in the earth. The design looks very nice and hoped to have a chance to look from inside.

What a remarkable tourist attraction. It can be viewed from most places in Dubai as a Centre point. Love how it sparkles at night...glittering and gaming.

Will have to wait for an appropriate time to actually go up on the sky scraper. Watched it to my heart's delight from the Address nearby, rented a Burj facing room. Best seen in the early morning beofre dust starts to be a problem. Figure, going up on the Burj may be best at dusk as lights come up in... More

Tall building (Ok tallest in the world, only until 2019) You'll see everything fun experience. 124 floors in 60 seconds with no queazy feeling. I recommend this and it's priced reasonable.

We had afternoon tea at At.mosphere today so we got to see a lot of the world's tallest building. We had a reservation at 3 and encountered no problems or delays getting up to the 122nd floor. Heights bother me and this was no exception. It would have been worse had I tried to go any higher. I've attached some... More

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
