Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

If you are in Dubai this must be on your 'to do' list. Not as impressive as the 'Freedom Tower' in New York but worth a visit. Accessible from the Dubai shopping Mall and well organised. Book to avoid long queues.

Got the FastPass tickets to visit the 124 floor and enjoy a special view of Dubai. The self tour starts with a display of photos and material from the construction of the tower, most interesting. They have another floor - high - that is also available for visit but includes bar consumption, so its not very interesting if traveling with... More

Wonderful place to visit. The lifts are super fast. The view from top is stunning. Try going there by 6.30 so one can see the beautiful scenery in daylight and spend some time to see the wonderful city light up. I am sure nobody will leave Dubai without seeing this wonder. "The word impossible is not in leaders dictionaries. You... More

Went to the 148th floor, expensive but well worth it. You are greeted with drinks and dates and get about 40 minutes. You are then shown back down to the 125th where you can stay as long as you like. A must visit.

While in Dubai we visited the Burj khalifa at night price 350Dirhams about £70 each to experience the building, the tallest in the world. It is the best way to see Dubai at night. There are different prices and time slots. Always buy your ticket before you get there to avoid the long queues. You can do the 148 level... More

I visited several times the Burj - at the observation platform (that time I didn't have a review like this one) dinner in the "Atmosphere restaurant" and refreshment in the top bar. DO NOT pay (800 AED) the fee for the lift to the observation platform - extremely low value for money. If you like steak, pay once in a... More

Going up the Burj Khalifa is a great experience, especially looking DOWN on what we used to call skyscrapers! It's not cheap but it is worth it - once. Stay on for the evening as the fountains at the foot are spectacular (from 6.00 pm). Take a meal at one of the many restaurants that overlook the fountains. You will... More

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
