Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

We visted Burj Khalifa for a day and night visit during the 5,20 PM slot, the best to choose from for the day view and night lights of the city below. Unlike the Empire State Building in New York where we go right upto the top,her you can visit only the 124 and 125 floor whereas the building has more than... More

Rather impressive and at the same time overwhelming sight. It is worth the view. I recommend booking prior to visit as can have long queues at peak times.

It is expensive to go to the first viewing platform and even more so to go up another 20 floors to the second. My family of five stopped at floor 124 (the first viewing platform) but even from there the views are stunning. We paid around £50 each but that also included the entry to the aquarium. The experience (and that... More

We went to the burj khalifa at night and it looked beautiful. I'm terrified of heights so it took me a while to get closer to the glass panels but after a while it didn't bother me. The only fault was the queuing time. We queued for a long time at different points leading to the lifts but it is... More

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
