Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

A Must in Dubai

Visiting the Burj Khalifa is something one should do if visiting Dubai for the first time. The ride up only takes 50 seconds to the 124th floor. The views, of course, are amazing!

We visited 2 hours after landing & as the sun was setting. We pre-booked & doing so is cheaper as well as avoiding any queues. Great views, nice refreshments & dates!

I was not super keen to visit - but felt we should go to the tallest building in the world seeing as we were in Dubai. I was proven wrong. When you see the building it is truly amazing - it just goes up and up. It is nearly 1km high! We took the tour to the 124th floor (it... More

Great views. We went to levels 124 & 125 and spent about 45 mins up. It was not too crowded at 1:30pm afternoon. Buy tickets advance.

What a building. You cannot explain how tall this building is until you see it up close. Incredible and well worth a visit. Go to the Dubai Mall and spend some time outside just staring up !!!

It's definite tall! The water fountain show was entertaining, reminded me of the one in Las Vegas in front of the Bellagio.

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
