Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

Had a wonderful time looking around. Reading about construction leading up to the eventual building was quite intuitive. Thd view upstairs was pretty awesome. I felt the whole experience left me wanting a bit - probably more to do with the amount of hype and expectation prior to visiting.

Best way to see this is at Dubal Mall. Really great photos. This structure is huge! The price to go the 124th floor and the top floor is a bit steep in my opinion and was even told it's not really worth it by a few people so I did not go up but see the building from the outside... More

At the Top, is a must visit. Always better to book tickets online, take the early morning slots, queues for the lifts get longer as the day goes by 1-1 1/2 hour waiting later in the day.

Really enjoyed our ticket to the top. Lounge on floor 148 was lovely and had great views. The lifts were busy so fast track is well worth it. Very enjoyable Honeymoon experience.

The Burj has always been on my To Do list, and I am really pleased I've seen it. However, it is expensive and in my opinion overrated. It cost 1100AED for two of us to go right to the top, 148th floor. Included in that cost we also got a drink, a tour guide for 10 mins to take us... More

To visit the tallest building in the world is a must and a privilege.I bought my tickets on-line and had no hassles of queues. Also, I visited at 10.00 a.m, and went directly to the top, without a big crowd and no queue at all. This marvel of modern architecture is amazing; it took about 8 years to complete, and had... More

We went through advice of friends who had been before and we are so glad. You cannot appreciate this building untill you stand underneath it. Totally breathtaking. There is a water display at night to music and it can get very crowded. Get there early for a good spot. Dubai Mall is there with Metro so easy to get to.

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
