Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Palacio Carrasco is a heritage building in the city of Viña del Mar. It was built to be the residence of the businessman Emilio Carrasco between 1912 and 1923. Together with it’s surrounding park and Auguste Rodin's work , La Defensa , located on its front, was declared a National Monument of Chile. Certainly worth visiting when in Viña Del Mar.

I didnt´t actually go inside, but the building looks wonderful, and the Rodin statue in front of it is an absolute gem. The fact that is is relatively unknown in Chile (and therefore by visitors too) is a real pity. The statue was commissioned by the Chilean government after the Pacific War (1879-1883) to commemorate fallen war heroes (especially Arturo Prat). Rodin, who was already one of the best -known sculptures of the time came up with the statue of a nude (hero) being taken away by a mythical winged figure, the Chilean authorities believed the statue was inappropriate and so it was never placed in any kind of high-profile location....Anyway... go and see it... it is a world class statue in a totally unexpected location.

This was an interesting building in Vina Del Mar and one we were taken to on a very bad tour of Valparaiso. It is now a cultural center & library but started out as the private residence of the Carrasco family in 1924. It is now a historic building in a not too well maintained garden setting .It has an interesting statue called 'La Defense' by Rodin outside.

Who would have thought you could find a statue of Rodin in front of a Palaccio in Vina del Mar. Beautiful version of the statue. A huge one is at the Musee Rodin in Paris. I heard the story that it was presented by Rodin in a contest in 1879 when the city of Valparaiso was looking to erect a monument for the Heroes de Iquique. Well Rodin must have entered a lot of contests because in France, he entered the same statue in a contest for a monument at the Rond-point de Courbevoie. He lost in the first round for both contests... It was probably found too violent, too harsh and angry. The statue is fantastic to see, all these emotions clearly defined in the scream and form of the sculpture. Very powerful.
