Private Half Day Tour: Sucre Walking Tour with Hotel Pick up

1 review
Explore Sucre with a private guide on a half-day walking tour of the city’s bustling plaza, University, and colonial-era architecture. The option to choose between the House of Liberty Museum and the Museo de la Recoleta—one features artifacts from Bolivia’s independence struggle, and the other is a convent filled with historic artwork—lets you customize the experience, and you’ll enjoy personal service from beginning to end.

Very good and interesting museum if you want to know more about indigenous life, culture, history and art. They give you a book with extensive explanation in English corresponding with all you will see. That includes incredible fine and minuscule weaving patterns. In the book you wil not only find explanation on the meaning of the patterns but also about how mothers teach their daughters how to make this complicated work etc. On entrance the lady told me 45 minutes would be enough to see the museum. But they have (I think) 9 rooms, very interesting video's with music, dance and also explanation. So if you are really interested take about 3 hours to see this museum. Also the garden is lovely with beautiful views.

The South Andean Anthropologists program has been supporting anthropological research and ethnic development projects in Bolivia for over 30 years and the beautiful and informative museum and museum store are products of their work throughout the southern Andean region.

Comprehensive, interesting and with plenty of information, this was the best museum we visited in Bolivia. And the textiles are stunning and good quality examples are on sale at the shop.

It's a pity you can't take photos to remember all the beautiful textile shown. They offer you a mate drink as a welcome drink.
