the famous Black mailbox is no longer there. It only has a pile of rock and someone spay and green alien head on it.

Even if the mailbox still existed, it is just a mailbox. When we went there is just a pile of junk where it was located. If you made it this far, go to the gate of Area 51.

I was a bit disappointed before actually taking the trip because I read that this mailbox was now gone. To my surprise, an AWESOME person put a new, actually black, mailbox. It was pretty cool to be able to experience this site. We opened the...More

“Someone” places a new black mailbox where the old one once stood. I have NO IDEA who did it, but it’s cool and it’s New and it’s there... hopefully no one messes it up... To include the land owner... keep the fun alive!

One more tourist site lost to idiots who don't understand the concept of keeping their hands off of private property. The mailbox was a functioning component of a working ranch that people chose to repeatedly break in to, over a dozen times locks were destroyed...More

I knew the mailbox wasn't there when I planned the trip, but it was still cool to see. It was kind of junky, though; it seems other alien hobbyists aren't that clean. The surrounding area was breathtakingly beautiful. Not worth a stop if you're not...More

You visit the area you have to come here- it's expected. The clues in the name but don't expect to see too much.

IT was just a bunch of garbage on the ground with a shrine and alien outlined with rocks. Fun to be there, and a beautiful landscape. But we wouldn't' go back.
