I have lived in Santa Cruz for a year now and took my parents when they visited in April. They loved the plaza with ice cream shops nearby, photo opportunities and a very relaxed atmosphere with benches, trees and shops.
Worth the visit whilst in Santa Cruz. It's a lovely square, has a great atmosphere and the locals are so friendly. When here the square seemed to have something on every evening. Not sure if this is always the case.
