This was a proper birding tour to see two special Ibis species including the very rare Giant Ibis. Not only did we see these birds but a great many others, including Green eared Barbet, White-rumped Pygmy Falcon and Pied Harrier. In all we saw over 120 species in 3 days. We also stayed at the Tmat Boey eco lodge where the food was prepared by people from the village and was excellent. We also visited two lovely temples. Great trip and thanks to Hang, our guide who was genial and knowledgeable.

We did a one half day tour around Ankor Was. Our guide Sophear was great and a very professional birding guide. Sophear was very skilled at hearing and spotting the birds and we saw many species we had not seen before. We had come from Thailand touring in some national parks where the birds were much closer than on our tour, so they were harder to see at Ankor Wat. But we really enjoyed our trip with Sophear who answered the many questions we had about Cambodian wildlife and about Cambodia.

This is such a wonderful program and an incredible way to see Cambodia. The staff are knowledgable and approachable, and they take great care of their customers. We did the 1 day Tonle Sap Lake tour to Prek Toal. We had a wonderful time and saw a wide variety of bird species on the lake. It was also a wonderful way to see the floating villages of the Tonle Sap.

World class tour with World class guide to Prek Toal bird sanctuary and the floating village. Ladomg was a brilliant guide for this tour. He answered all our questions about birds, Cambodia, the floating villages, the conservation projects etc.

This tour is amazing for anyone wanting to see bird wildlife and the lives of the floating villagers.

Ladomg has the eyes of a Golden Eagle - he can spot the tiniest of birds to help us less able folks.

Over the years we have been on many wild life tours across the World and this is up there with the best!

We can’t wait to come back to this amazing country for another amazing tour with Ladomg!

This was an excellent morning’s birding in an area of wetlands I’d never have found for myself. The guide was first class: he was fully familiar with all the birds and their calls, picking up even distant ones flying over. He was also quick to ascertain my level of experience and treat me accordingly which I really appreciated, and he always took the trouble to make sure I’d had good views of everything. Altogether we saw fifty species, including four species of kingfishers and a good variety of land birds as well as water birds. I certainly hope to use SVCT again in future.

We had a great trip with Hang to Angkor Wat both from a temple and birdwatching perspective. Hang was knowledgeable about the temple history and the grounds were surprisingly fruitful for birds including 3 types of kingfishers and blue rock thrush. He was very skilful in using the scope and very pleasant company too.

Great tour. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in seeing some nature around Siem Reap or Angkor.

With my guide Hang we saw around 35 bird species which is good for this time of the year. Without him I'd have probably seen less than half of that and struggled to identify many, but Hang recognised most of the birds within a few seconds. He also brought a spotting scope along to help us see the birds even clearer.

If you use eBird then they will share the checklist with you at the end so there is no worry about remembering what you've seen.

We also spent some time in the main temple, and my guide was really knowledgeable and knew the answers to all my questions.

Only thing worth saying is that you'll need a lot of mosquito spray (which is expected in this part of the world really).

I'll be encouraging everyone I know (who is interested in nature) to book a tour with them if they come to Cambodia, and if I'm back in the country I'll be booking a longer tour for myself.

I had registered from India with Sam Vesna for a one and half day biridng trip. It was an extremely hot and humid day for birding at Siem Reap. However, the bird guide from SVC was full of energy and made good efforts to show maximum bird species. On day 1 , for half day birding starting from 2 pm , we went to Phnom Krom rice fields and we were able to spot 34 bird species. I got 6 lifers at this location. The heat was miserable so we stopped after 2 hours of birding , by 4pm. On Day-2 , it was full day birding at Angkor Wat. We started at 5am from my hotel Angkor Miracle hoping to see the spectacular sunrise at Angkor Wat, but the clouds had dampened the view of sunrise. We started birding once there was sufficient daylight and went towards the thick forest area behind the temple to the left side from the entrance. we could spot and hear nearly 25 species of birds in our 5 -6 hours of birding and temple tour. From here, we moved to Ta Phrom and visited the temple. It was very hot and humid and impossible to look for birds as the birds were resting in the shade of tress.
Overall, Mr Hang Oeung from Sam Vesna was an excellent bird guide and had very good knowledge of birds and bird calls. He was very enthusiastic and made lot of effort to show maximum number of bird species to me in the one and half day birding trip despite the terrible heat conditions. I was happy to get 11 lifers and some fantastic shots of Ruby-cheeked Sunbird, Olive -Backed Sunbird, Brown -throated Sunbird and Zebra Dove. I wish i had time to explore Botanical gardens on my own on the 3rd day of my stay in Siem Reap but went to kulen mountains with family and friends , which was an absolute waste of time.

I did two trips with Nan Ladong, a guide with Sam Veasna: a morning of open-country birding south of Siem Reap, and a full-day trip to the dry forest and evergreen forest near Kbal Spean.

Both trips were great, and we saw just over 100sp in this short time. For the Siem Reap tour, transport was by Tuktuk since it was close by, and for the Kbal Spean tour we took a 4WD car (no dirt roads though).

I got quite a few targets, including Collared Falconet, 4 Prinia sp., Puff-throated and Chestnut-capped Babblers, Crested Serpent-Eagle, Black-headed Woodpecker and many more. Ladong knew every vocalization and specific spots for each species. Included in the Kbal Spean visit was a tour of the excellent ACCB rehabilitation center, an ex-situ conservation site for many species of endangered birds, mammals and reptiles.

I will definitely be calling Sam Veasna again when I return to Cambodia, as they offer quite a few more extensive trips for all the Cambodian specialties.

Very attentative and informative guide Nan Ladong picked us up from hotel and took us to watch birds near phnom krom. We saw over 40 birds around the paddy fields - and the explanations and relaxed answering of questions made it a great trip.
