Dedicated to fine art photography of Asia, McDermott Gallery was founded in 2004 by photographer John McDermott. The New York Times called him the Ansel Adams of Angkor, writing that "McDermott's pictures are not just beautiful but iconic." McDermott Gallery has two locations in Siem Reap: at FCC Angkor and at Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor. Additional work may also be viewed at Belmond La Residence d'Angkor and Anantara Hotel & Spa.

Went looking for contemporary art galleries in Siem Reap and found John McDermott's gallery. Beautiful infrared photos of several of the local Temples capture a feeling of quiet which is hard to get when visiting the temples filled with fellow travellers. There are 2 galleries- my favourite was in the Raffles hotel because of the hotel's colonial heritage and decor.... More

Our 6 day stay in Siem Reap was relaxing, but for time-short travellers 3 full days would suffice. The Angkor Sayana Hotel was ideally located beside the 'river' and 10 mins. walk to markets and Pub Street, and only 15 mins. walk to the museum - a visit there before temple 'trudging' is very worthwhile to get to view the... Honestly walking around Siem Reap can be a very hot experience in the sense that the sun literally bears down on us. So when you see something like this, cool n quiet n elegant, it is such a nice haven to run to and then BANG get surprised by all these awesome photographs.

The first 3 days I'd biked & hiked through the city-temples of Angkor. Day 4 I happened to swing by this Art Gallery (walk in, free admissions) and it really cemented all the experiences I'd gathered; to be honest, more than the National Museum down the road! Taking a seat in the AC chilled space I opened Jim's book and... More

This photographic gallery is easily found, being attached to the hotel FCC behind the Royal Residence on Pokambor Avenue. The images of Angkor Wat are all in black and white and as they were taken around 20 years ago when there were very few tourists there is no impediment to the visual representation of the historic wonders. Entry to the... More

John's work is beautiful. It's interesting to visit and see his work. If you go to the gallery before visiting the temples, his work will inspire you. If you go to the gallery after you visit the temples, you will appreciate how good his work really is. There are galleries at Raffles and the Foreign Correspondents Club. His book Elegy... More

We stopped in to check out the gallery after having a drink in the hotel bar. The pieces on display are plentiful and gorgeous black and white works, all images of the Angkor Temples. We purchased one piece after taking a look at all the works and look forward to having the piece framed soon. Highly recommend stopping in here... More

A nice small gallery with interesting infrared work. I can't imagine it gets too many visitors but u was really impressed with the photos.

Couldn't find where to review the Raffles gallery. Amazing images that will whet your appetite if you've not yet been to the temples or make you yearn to go again. Free entry and only found as we went for afternoon tea at the hotel.

I found this gallery by accident one evening and was glad I found it! The gallery I visited is not connected to a hotel and has only one level, not two. (I understand there is more than one gallery in Siem Reap.) There are amazing photographs, ranging in price from very expensive to very affordable (posters, cards). I had hoped... More
