This is a terrace adorned with Eleohant carvings, originally built by one of the Khmer kings to celebrate the victories of his armies.

It is a nice walk, and requires around 30 minutes to visit.

If you are visiting Bayon temple, definitely go and see it, it is nearby.

It you are not visiting Bayon, I would skip.

On your drive through Angkor Thom, it’s well worth a stop at the Elephant Terrace. The reliefs along the wall are great. Most people I noticed snapped a photo or two then moved on. I reckon it’s worth a visit of about 15mins

Terrace of the Elephants is one of the tourist attraction in Angkor. It is a part of the walled city of Angkor Thom and the temple complex is ruined. The terrace was used by the King to watch his victorious returning army. The walls are carved with elephants.

We visited Elephants Terrace after we visited the Bayon Temple, Baphuon and Phimeanakas. An amazing runway from Baphuon Side to the Leper King Terrace on the other side. A must see in Angkor Thom.

The Terrace of the Elephants is part of the walled city of Angkor Thom and is best viewed when visiting the majestic Bayon as it's only a short, gentle stroll away.

The terrace Elephant Terrace was used by Angkor's king Jayavarman VII as a platform from which to admire his victorious army returning from battle. The wall is two and a half-metres tall, 300 metres long and adorned with carved elephants and garudas. Access is easy and you can walk atop the terrace but to do so would be to miss some of the carvings adorning the red walls and some of the three dimensional elephants, with their trunks protruding to the ground as if in support.

An impressive and unusual site to be enjoyed with Bayon. I'd allow 30 minutes to appreciate properly.

A long terrace at the heart of Angkor Thom. Has got its' name from hunting scenes with elephants on the wall. And there are more art reliefs.

Seeing the intricate work of these carvings and having an explanation of their depiction by our fantastic guide, meant that I would suggest this is a must.
Just step back and look at they’re splendour! Some say they are worn, yes, they are old, but stunning nevertheless!

This is worth seeing for the artistry & skill that no longer exists. Makes you wonder how long they spent both learning their craft & bringing this to fruition.
