This church stands on a slight hill and dominates the area. From the outside it looked quite impressive with excellent coloured panels and intricate detail on the towers. The church clearly shows the influence of Eifel (he of the tower in Paris) with a great...More

An interesting structure, specially in the north of Chile were the architecture is unique to the Andean culture. The cathedral was designed by Eiffel, therefore is a metal structure which I am sure will survive many earthquakes. It is out of character with the area...More

From the outside, this catedral is very pretty (designed by Eiffel). And from the inside, it's really peaceful, with some chanting music playing throughout and people sitting or walking around in silence. I'm not religious, but I enjoyed spending 10 minutes or so inside, just...More

Visited this Cathedral when visiting Arica Chile. Looks really nice from the inside and outside. This Cathedral is well worth a visit if you’re in Arica.

Wooden structure, nothing in common with a European stone Cathedral: Worth 5 minutes of your city tour.

Highly recommend a visit to this church, designed by Eiffel. If in Arica, don't miss it! A very interesting visit.

Inside and outside a very representative church distinguished by its metal construction. Obviously well maintained and a „must see place“ near a central park area.

If you go to Arica, you must go here. If you can go during the day AND night. The contrast is amazing. It's a cast iron church, and resonates like you think it would. Home to some birds, and amazing frescoes (12 stations are beautiful)....More

We were lucky to have a chance to visit this rather quaint little church during a recent cruise stop in Arica. It is an easy walk from the cruise port, a pleasant stroll through a palm lined plaza with local vendors selling this and that....More

This was the most lovely of buildings. The walk up to it is so pretty through a plazza. And then to enter this church. I loved it.

Built in prefab form and designed by Eiffel - he of the tower in Paris and the Statue of Liberty in New York. Unusual and striking; designed to withstand the frequent earthquakes which destroyed predecessors.

This tiny Church is a wonderful gem in Arica. Designed by the famous Gustave Eiffel in 1880 on behalf of the peruvian primeminister, the Church was fabricated in pieces in Paris at Eiffel´s place, transported half Way around the World and assembled in Arica. Amazing...More
