Snuggled between the Five Old Man Mountains and the sea, XMU is widely regarded as China's most beautiful campus (Wuhan University perhaps being the only serious contender). Enjoy the Chinese/Western architecture dating from 1921, as well as the beautiful lotus lake and more modern architecture,...More

Okay ... to be fair, the grounds are well maintained and looks okay ... but it's just a university, and for practical purposes, there's nothing to do except walking around ... Why such a high ranking on TA?

My great grandfather was one of the philanthropists who donated his money to the building of this university. He was a native of this city before he ventured to Singapore for a living. When I came to Xiamen, I have three wishes. I hope to...More

Very nice campus with many lakes and beautiful gardens and nice buildings around. Luckily security at the entrance wouldn’t allow everyone to get it, just few people, otherwise wouldn’t have been so nice with all people around. Worth a visit!

A school known for tourism shouldn't have their exhibits/museums closed during the summer. Wouldn't they rather have tourists come in the summer when students and teachers are off? Anyway, nothing was open when we went. All the museums, exhibits were closed. The scenic isn't that...More

The botanical gardens, of which I think there are three connected, are absolutely monstrous in size and can have huge queues and a lot of uphill potential. The University has part of the botanical garden itself, and their own regular gardens and lakes are just...More

Very beautiful environment, buildings, gardens, trees, ponds...it is suitable for a walk, free entrance. Although the queue seems very long, it took me about 20-30min to get in. I suggest you can go there after the long queue, maybe after 7pm. Please bring along your...More

There is a good collection of old photos, but would require to read Chinese naratives. Surprise to find homage to Lee Kong Chian and Tah Kah Kee from Singapore.

Opening hours are 1pm to 3pm but only very limited numbers. Opens again in late afternoon at 5pm but expect big crowds which start to gather about 3pm to wait for the opening time of 5pm.
