Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped here on a tour of the city. We were told it’s where locals come to relax but it was the weekend and there wasn’t a soul around so we suspected it’s a tourist site, rather than a local facility. The dragon boat sculpture and the woman with the egret are nice and it would be a nice place to relax for a while. Unexciting though and I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it.

I came to Shantou during the Golden Week. Fortunately, my China neighbor helped me to book a 2-way train ticket to travel from Shantou airport to Xiamen North Bullet train station. I only had 3 days in Xiamen and had to return to Shantou on the fourth day.It was quite rush for me. I should have spent more time in Xiamen.

So, the first thing I arrived in Xiamen was to book a cruise ticket to Gulangyu. I booked a hostel room near Nanhu Park. The receptionist at this Lu Fei International Youth Hostel at Nanhu spoke confidently that the distance to the International Cruise Center is not far and I can just walk there. .

The following morning, I woke up at 5 am and I walked my way from my hostel to the International Cruise Center. I came to the entrance of this park and decided to cut through the park to the Cruise Center.

I was in a rush and did not really appreciate the beauty of this place. It was serene and quiet on that early morning. I saw a few residents jogging but there were not many of them. The admission into the park is free.

What attracted me in this park was the manicured lawns and beautiful shrubs and few modern sculptures. The Egret Goddess Sculpture is a beautiful lady knelt down combing her long hair right in the middle of a lake. There was supposed to have pigeons around but I did not see any.

I also came across the musical fountain but it was not operational. It was only operational in the evening from 8 to 9 pm on Friday and Saturday.

The whole park appears to me an ordinary park but it is an oasis in a densely populated city and serenity and peace pervaded the air.

I just took some photos in the dim light of dawn and hastened my steps to the cruise center. I do not wish to miss the 7.30 am cruise to Gulangyu.

Had a lovely walk around this green space, quiet early this am. 7am, locals were out and doing very sorts of excerise.

Saw lovely green spaces, with fish, and decorations around the place..

We only went for a walk to stretch out our legs after a long flight..

Very close to the Pullman hotel. For 3 westerns trying to cross the road on the crossing was very daunting they don't stop for pedestrians.

The locals call this place "coffee street". You get a row of resturants along the lake. Quite a romantic place to go for dinner or drinks. Prices are above average and your average meal for 2 will be about 500cny.
After dinner or drinks, you can also take a walk along the lake or continue drinking at the pubs there.

The grounds of this city-center park are very well maintained and well appointed with modern sculptures. Not a lot of shade so quite warm the day I was there. The statue of the goddess with the egret on her shoulder are representative of the City as the egret is special to Xiamen.
If you happen by, stroll through but don't forego something else to incorporate this location into your daily schedule unless you have ample time to do it all.

Located at the city centre. The night view was really fascinating with colourful appearances as the beautiful background. It's a must to visit at night to have a leisure walk with your family and friends if you were planning to go Xiamen

I walked here from the coffee street and found this to be a lovely yet completely empty park. It is surrounded by water with paths, hedges, trees, sculptures, water features and three bridges connecting it to the rest of the town. Nice find im Xiamen city.

Lots of greenery; on weekends, you can see families having a picnic, feeding pigeons or just having fun on the grass. There's also a statue of a female figure called the Egret Goddess nearby. Egrets are rare here but can be found occasionally. Very peaceful park and makes for a great stroll. Few to no tourists here - mostly locals.
