Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Take the MRT line 1 and alight at JiMei School Village stop. If you take from the terminal Zhenghai Lu it's 5 yuan.
Use the pedestrian crossings from the station. 5 min walk to reach the entrance. Take a stroll along Jia Geng Road. Admire the beautiful buildings. Visit the old residence of Tan Kah Kee. Make a round and walk along AoYuan Road, stroll along the Dragon Boat Lake back to the station.
No admission charges.
About 2--3 hours.

In general, the people of Xiamen and Jimei feel they have better culture than people from other cities of China. I have to say it is cleaner than the other parts of china I have been to. Jimei is the second largest university in the Fujian region and it was built by Tan Kah Kee who originated from Jimei village. There are renovations ongoing but still a beautiful college for the college town of Jimei. Note that within this public university itself, there are a few private institutions built by Tan because he believed that there will be students who learn slower and need more time to cope up with studies. There are nice shops to eat in the village itself. What I love most are the banners and posters on the wall filled with proverbs and values in Mandarin, because Tan loved knowledge and all those are his principles in life.

Most overseas Chinese must visit this sight for sentimental and historical reasons. The older Chinese Generation from Singapore in particular; as the founder of this village is one of the prominent Singaporean from the Tan Clan. The village is one of the key education base in Xiamen. For non Chinese tourists, this is just another educational institute and nice building!!!

The school isn't special at all. Go to Xiamen University instead, located around an hour away on the island - that will give you a much better experience.

We were there for the light show in the evening. Absolutely beautiful when all the buildings in the school village campus had their lights lit. The reflection on the Longzhou Pool made it even prettier.

I biked around the School village and it is well worth a stop. If you get off at the metro stop, and head east along the waterfront it is an enjoyable stroll to the Chen Scenic Spot. There are tourist shops and cafés along the way.

It’s not on the same island of Xiamen. If you have time, you can go there and walk around the Tai Ye Chi ( the lake) and visit the museums.
I especially like the reflection in the lake.
