Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went there recently during the National Day holiday in China, so it was likely much busier than usual. It was a little bemusing that the ticketed "beach" area with the best views was closed to visitors. As were the boat rental services. You'd think they'd want to milk as much of the holiday spending as possible, but I guess the people who ran those facilities wanted to go home too. lol

That said, the free area was still huge. So large that people tend to rent bikes of all varieties to ride around it. On a nice sunny day, the views are gorgeous. Pictures say it all so I won't waffle about it.

Another point to note is that there's a village (maybe more than one) inside the park. Depending on which entrance you take to the park, you might end up walking through it to get to the scenic parts of the lake. The village itself looks pretty rundown, dusty and not what you'd expect of a scenic park, but curiously, they are doing a roaring business in traditional Chinese rural feasts. (农家乐) The locals seem to love it. There's literally queues of fancy cars from the big cities lining up to eat at a village that would not look out of place from China of 30 years ago. I guess it's the nostalgia and authenticity people are looking for? Personally I prefer a nicer environment, so I cannot tell you how good the food might be.

I and my wife spent a day in this beautiful park. We hired a cycle and went round the lake along the bicycle circuit in 3 and a half hours. There are a few food stalls on the way and the charges are very reasonable. As with most public parks this one is also clean and well maintained with a places where you can relax and while away time when pedaling becomes too monotonous. it gets a little crowded on weekends but with a big bustling city adjoining it that is only to be expected.

Beautiful park and evening views. We enjoyed the park, its sculptures, lake views, the city lights on the other side of the lake, and the high oxygen content fresh air.

China has well-developed and planned, beautiful parks for the enjoyment of its people. Spring flowers come early in this part of the country. On this beautiful February day, the signs of spring were evident in the blooming tree buds and flowers. We rented a bike for two to better enjoy the 8.5-square kilometres park. Great place to relax, enjoy the increasing greenery, peaceful atmosphere, and fresh air.

I am an American living in Songshan Lake so I spend a lot of time enjoying it's beauty. From the main "business" area near the Hyatt or Aloft Hotels, there is easy access to the lake, where there is a paved path that goes around the lake. On this first section of the path, no bicycles are allowed, so if you rent a bicycle, you must go along the road, away from the lake, until you reach the first bridge to the south. Weekends get busy, during spring and fall, weekends are packed with people! Great if you like people watching, but YOU will be the one actually being watched! Foreigners are not regulars in this area, and especially when locals come from surrounding areas, they are not used to seeing foreigners so they will often stare at you. This is NOT considered rude in China, Just smile and say "Nihao" and you'll usually get a smile back :-) Different times of year bring different blooms, but there seems to always be something to see! There is a wonderful Lotus Pavilion and zigzag bridge not too far down the path. The Vanke Plaza, nearby the main tourist entrance, has some nice restaurants. If you don't speak/read Chinese, I'd recommend the Thai Palace or Hong Kong Mate. If you can handle some Chinese, the "North Foutainhead" Chinese Restauarant, above Pizza Hut, is good, but there is no English menu. There are Pizza Hut, McD's and KFC also at the plaza. Lots of local drink places with teas and fruit drinks. Next to the Thai Palace is the Chario Spa, where we often get foot massage. 88rmb for 70 minutes, actually includes back, arms and head while your feet soak, then they move on to your feet. They don't speak English, but translators can handle the situation. Starbucks is at both the plaza and across from the Hyatt on the main road.

Song Shan Lake Park is a large park with an extensive lake facing the Hyatt Regency Dongguan Hotel. It is a nice place to relax and to stay for leisure; it has walking, jogging and cycling facilities. Even in winter a nice place to be! Being tall Dutchman cycling around the lake, we were the attraction of the day. The Chinese were amazed that white people can cycle too!

i often visit here to bike around the lake or just walk or picnic on my he shores, in the evening is best because of the ambiance the lake lends to the surrounding hotels and eateries.

This is a place I will definitely visit time and again

Exceptional view with Typhoon raining down heavy over SOngShan Lake. View is grey but superb to see how nature repaints the entire landscape. Adding a new dimension to rainy day, the whole SongSan Pake Lake is overcast yet giving a quaint experience to remind us God is truly in control of nature!
