Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Mount Guanyin, of Dongguan, was named after a stone that looked like Guanyin. Great place to relax in the subtropical weather, and enjoy another natural beauty of China.

If you're fit 'n' able, skip the buggie cart and walk to the top. There are a few side tracks to explore.

U can enjoy 10% discount if you register with your name & phone number on their website first and get a discount code. Take this code to the customer service desk and, after they have filled in forms in triplicate and chopped them, they will take you to the ticket office and ensure you get the discount! Very friendly!

Worst bit was the 2 1/2 hrs each way bus ride on the L4 from Dongguan bus station. Seats are hard...

It was a lot of fun to get to the top by small bus, walk after that a while , get some honey from the old lady right on the top of the mountain. Having reached the top, you can enjoy amazing view over the whole area! This place is sure worth visiting! If you go from Dongguan centre take bus L4 , it will take you right to the Entrance!

It's not exactly in Dongguan, I went to Zhangmutou railway station and then took a bus 16 to the park area (about 20 minutes ride, 3 rmb cost). The park is huge and well maintained, it's about 7 kms walk up to the temple area (or you can take a bus for 20 rmb). On Saturday morning there were almost no people, view is so so, but if you're craving for nice walk in the forest area, it's a great choice. Entrance fee is 45 rmb, you can buy water and snacks on the way (but a bit pricey), also you can take a zip line or slide on the way back (30 rmb each, but pretty short and not too exciting). On the top there are several temples with nice and peaceful atmosphere. Apparently it's not a very popular place to visit, but worth a look if you are somewhere nearby and have about 4-5 hours to relax.

Pro Tip : Come Early ! If you want to walk it up....
littered with beautiful spots, the giant statue of Guanyin takes the cake! At the top are some ancient buildings and a row of beautiful statues.

You can get a fair distance back down with the Slides (do it, not free, but do it).
If it isn't crowded slow yourself down and take out your phone to record yourself going down.

Taking the bus isn't bad, and if you want to walk I suggest walking back down....still a decent workout. I suggest not taking children for a long hike up or back down.

also bring lots of water, a good camera, a powerbank and some good friends.

Really nice sight to see. Not only on the top of the mountain but along the way also. Recommend to walk to the top. It is a two hour walk with few five-minute stops along the way bit there are some majestic views. I've posted some photos but the real deal is to see it with Your own eyes.
The best way to get to the bottom of the sight is by Taxi. Just prepare that they 99% can't speak English. Have GPS to track him. From Changping it should be around 10Euro.
If You are taking the bus from Changping (You already guessed I am situated in Changping😁), take the number 810 from Changping bus station (right next to Changping railway station) to town called Zhangmutou Zhen bus station (biggest bus station You come across, about 20 min. Then take bus number 16. It will take You right to the bottom of the mountain. Total fair is around 1eur (one Euro) 😀

My fellow foreign teachers and I decided to climb Guanyin mountain as a day trip on Saturday Oct 17th from Dongguan with bus L4. Some of us walked up and some took the bus up. It was great walking up. It is steep and about 7km. Once you get up there the atmosphere is really nice. There are restaurants up there as well.

Taking the Zipline down was a bit of a disappointment for me, but its just because im an adrenaline junky and i like things High and fast. The view on the way down made up for it being slow :)

Walk up and take the ZipLine down and have something to eat in the middle. :)

Nice for a quick visit since the location not a very touristy place. Avoid holidays. Not spectscular, but need to climb quite bit on steep stair casein the last 100m. Can be tough for the elderly, handicapped or kids.

I had a fun adventure to the top.

A lovley walk for the most part, the cart is easier and just as fun. But the last leg is steep, and when I went HOT. This overweight western was the source of amusement as a bunch of older chinese ladies walked me to the top feeding me fruit and squeezing my arm whilst laughing and chattering away. I'm glad I stuck with it, such a cultural place at the top with a cool breeze to dry my sweaty red face!

Yes I caught the cart back down. Students informed me the Zipline was worth it too.
