Our guide arranged a bamboo raft (it was fake, actually made of fat PVP piping) trip on the Li River from Yangdi to Xingping. Each raft can accommodate the boat driver and up to six passengers on 3 small benches. Tourists have to wear life jackets (good idea) however they are bulky and with sitting side by side on the... We took a 5-hour boat cruise along the Li River, from Guilin to Yangshuo and my wife and I loved the whole trip. The weather was perfect and there were areas which looked just like what we had seen a few minutes earlier (especially the Limestone Karst hills). The views were amazing, the experience was fantastic and the boat captain... More

This is the main reason why people come to this part of China. The scenery along the river are is the stuff memories are made of . The backdrop is limestone hills that were formed over 200 million years ago . They rise here and there along the banks and appear amid rice fields. The journey takes about 4 hours... More

This is a review on the scenic attraction of the river itself, and includes some generic observations about cruises in general. From what we could tell, the river cruise vessels are all pretty much the same. Our criticisms of this method of travel would probably have existed regardless of which cruise company we were on. My husband says he took... More

Last trip was on the huge river cruisers, 4 hour trip with meals included, Guilin to Yangshuo, but this time just on the 4 person "imitation bamboo " craft, a lother more intimate. Yangshuo to Yangshuo. The hotel arranged for a vehicle to pick us up and take us to the bus leaving for the river trip which took about... More

We booked our tour through ChinaTour.Net and visited during CNY,February 2016. The river cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo takes about 4 hours and lunch was included. It is surrounded by karst mountains, amazing greenery and breathtaking views. Along the river, there were scenes where we have often seen in Chinese watercolors and scroll paintings. The ships guide will inform you of the... More

Booked the cruise with my girlfriend, paid 400 RMB each (after adding 20 to have English guide on the boat). While boat was pretty comfortable and indeed luxurious (lunch, contrary to our fears, was adequate), one of the two guides was mainly interested in selling extra tour to the countryside (don't get it, Yangshuo has plenty of things to do)... The unearthly karst topography of the river is only duplicated in a small section of Eastern Europe (which I have not visited). Doing this trip with a lunch of river crabs and other Chinese dishes that are delivered to the kitchen while on cruise, is just perfect.

The Li river is as beautiful as its famed to be. A cruise along the meandering Li takes you among evergreen karst topography of strangely shaped lovely limestone hills, orange farms. little habitations, holiday home sites, bamboo rafts, all flowing by gently. Mountain of Splendid Hues, Elephant Trunk Hill can be spotted, as is that spot where all tourists rush... More

Yes, this is an absolutely must see when visiting Guilin. But like with many other top tourist destinations, there always is a drawback. This is especially true for the river Li landscape which every Chinese knows from the 20 RMB bill. So as Chinese tourism has picked up big time, be prepared for the huge crowds of local tourists waging... More
