Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Phoenix Island has been transformed into another touch of the Arab world in China. I first noticed it at the Sheraton Qingyuan Lion Lake Resort, which looks like and very much has the feel of being at a nice resort somewhere in the Arab world. We enjoyed our time walking and touring it close to four square kilometers of surface land area, its most beautiful resort, and water rides around the island. There are lots of eateries offering numerous types of fresh seafood.

Actually, you do not have to visit or live on this man-made island. Just position yourself on Sanya Bay after dark to witness an amazing light display on the five tower buildings.
Sanya Phoenix Island Development of China and Daktronics Inc. USA, teamed up to embellish the brand new Phoenix Island with 35km of LED stick video elements.
The result is simply spectacular.
Hey, Phoenix Island is home to a 7 Star hotel and hundreds of luxury apartments - BUT THIS LIGHT SHOW IS FREE :-)

We did not visit Phoenix Island but had great view from Tata bar on Nanbianhai Rd close to Fuhai Garden. The light show is impressive. Don't have to go and pay Luhuitou park to see the show.

I loved this hotel! The moment I saw the spectacular lights at night I was drawn to this place. Travelling alone I imagined that the price would be too much to consider staying here. I was looking for a nice place near Sanya Bay and I saw this on Ctrip for only ¥ 268. I booked it on line and took a taxi there in the early afternoon. When I arrived there was a lot of confusion which of the 5 buildings I had booked. I went to building A and it was the wrong one, the prices started at ¥ 900. They drove me to my building E and I was greeted by 3 ladies. To make things more confused no one speaks English. Good thing I took photos of all my screen shots to confirm my price and hotel. The 5 buildings are not owned by the same company! One of the ladies spoke a few words in English so I followed her. She took me up to a room on floor 26 and it was huge and extravagant but she said its ¥ 800 or about $160, that's cheap for what I saw and remember there's no tax added. I guess they try to up grade me since the hotel was not very busy. It's only been open for about one year. I didn't need this big space so I asked for a small room. The next viewing was on floor 9 for ¥ 300 per night and I took it for 4 nights. A great price for a 5 star hotel with an ocean view on the setting sun! The spacious balcony has a bath tub! I had a bath that afternoon overlooking Sanya Bay and the sunset! Wow just the view is worth being here! When you open the door to your room you get the feeling of a luxurious modern home. The two layers of motorized blinds open up and the welcome lights come on. The patio doors open up at least 6 feet (2m) wide. The room comes with a king bed which is super comfortable. A 50inch TV, a room safe, free water with coffee and tea each day. Also a fridge, stove and microwave. A separate shower room with 2 kinds of sprays and a blow dryer. Some hotels here don't offer a blow dryer. All the power switches are touch sensitive and from the bed you can control all the lights the curtains and the ceiling stereo audio system. At night time the 5 buildings take on a magical appearance as the buildings glow with animated lighting. You feel special and wonderful just to be here. I was alone but if I had my special someone with me it would be heaven! Pheonix island is accessed by a long bridge and the security is very tight. No one can enter without proper ID. Shuttle cars will bring you to the mainland and back but you better bring your room key with you if you want to get back lol.
Here are some things that would make this place even better. My room only had one small mirror inside the toilet above the sink and the sink faucet has round plastic handles so you can't turn them if your hands are wet, big mistake. When you leave the room and take your room key with you the power goes off and the window blinds close. If you are trying to charge your batteries, you can't and the room air conditioning goes off. My building isn't finished yet, so there's no lobby, and no restaurant. If you want to eat something you can take a shuttle to building A, but its very expensive. Just take the car shuttle across the bridge and there are lots of restaurants and small fruit stands. If you arrive late do some grocery shopping first or have some snacks to make due for the night. A few other things, unless you booked and paid online they don't take credit cards in person. I didn't have enough cash with me so I had to go to an ATM machine and pay for all 4 days upfront. Since there is no lobby you must pay the lady who shows you the rooms. My lady took good care of me and arranged for everything I needed. She will add you to your WeChat account so you can communicate with the translation tools.
One last thing there is a lot of construction going on 24 hours a day. They are building a big dock for ocean liners and making a marina for sail boats. The workers live down below and some dogs bark at night. I guess this is why the price is so affordable for now and this is why some of the reviews are less than great. If the noise and pollution from the construction bothers you, get a room as high up as you can or stay at Building A for ¥ 900 a night which is still not bad for staying on a private island overlooking the ocean and Sanya Beach.

Well 1st of is the amazing light display on the five tower building, but only enjoy it only for a couple of days (at night), the rest will be the same, to view the LED light display in the best way is to position yourself away from the five tower. The food and the beach there are nice and the best to arrange your own transport to view the place.

Hi, since I am a first time visitor and I am not fluent speaker of chinese language.
What shall I do to pass the bridge to the Sanya Phoenix Island, since I dont have any room card? Can anyone suggest me, please? What are the other ways to enter the island?
Written 31 August 2016
Ask hotel reception to arrange for you to be picked up from the gatehouse at bridge to island by security buggy. Important to have arrangement before arrival as v difficult to get through illogical process otherwise!

Hi, i would like to know how can you get pass the gate the first time since you dont have the key i heard from the reviews that its a bit hard to deal with the guards
Written 7 July 2016
Hi, not sure if you received my answer as was travelling with poor data, but in essence I advise to contact reception a few days before arrival and get them to make arrangements with security to transfer you on their golf buggy type vehicles, this seemed to work for others!
