This is an important and famous section of The Great Wall originally built in 583 AM that played a significant role in the military defense of the Ming Dynasty. Shanhaiguan Pass is located in the small harbor town of Qinhuangdao by the Sea.

This was a unique place to see the Great Wall! Not crowded like Beijing areas - the pass here in Shanhaiguan is the Eastern most part of the Great Wall where it touches the ocean. Very cool place.

Excellent exercise..the last part before the tower is quite strenuous with some vertical stair to overcome but the view from the top makes the effort worth it.

If you haven't been to the Wall great opportunity to see it first hand. However in our case had visited the wall three other places.

Easy access from near the train station on the 33 bus. Good place to walk along the Great Wall. Other nearby attractions and museum. You should also visit the two other sections, where it meets the sea and where it meets the first mountain.
