Ticked another item off my bucket list! Heard about the Yellow River but never visited before, also my first ride in a hovercraft, which was a plus! Also a chance to ride a horse on the banks of the river, or even try the quad bikes!

Take the number 16 bus from the main railway station; you can get on at later stops (Nanyang Lu) but you probably won't get a seat in the summer and it's quite a long way. The cost is 5 RMB pay on entry as per normal city buses or with your city bus/metro card also.
The entrance fee is 60 RMB which is fairly pricey but the area is vast and there's plenty to do for example:- ride a horse; visit the peacock farm; take a boat; go on the cable car; slide down the embankment; walk in sculptured gardens areas; eat in the restaurants; enjoy a BBQ and hire bikes.
As long as the pollution isn't bad that day you'll get some stunning photos of the river and the rail/road crossings.

It is about two hours each way from Zhengzhou, but the place is a must see. Totally worth the drive and the visit.

I've seen the Yellow River before in cities located in much larger urban areas. While it's never been much to see (Imagine extremely rural areas along the Mississippi River at the sea level of New Orleans.) The Yellow River stinks and has as much trash and waste floating in it as most western sewage treatment facilities. One of the things you notice even more in Zhengzhou and the Yellow River is there is a lot of 'legend' that is praised in most of the reviews on Trip Advisor and in China itself. An example: at one point, while waiting on a meeting, I turned on the English speaking CCTV news channel and there was a show about Puppeteering. The puppeteers were on stage in full view dancing around to move the puppets. There was no attempt to conceal their bodies or movement behind a panel or a table. Why use puppets if the puppeteer is going to dance around the stage to make the puppet dance? Yet, the crowd was going wild with applause as if they had just seen the most advanced technology at Universal Studios or a Disney theme park. That was much like the Yellow River. The reviews and historical value of the Yellow river are based on more historical importance than anything worthy of actually visiting as a tourist. If you've seen one dirty river, you've seen them all. Don't waste your time. Either most of the reviews are by people with extremely rich imaginations and ability to create a vision in your head or it's like many remnants of Chinese culture--based on historical value and nothing of any real tourist value other than saying you've seen it. As China's middle class grows exponentially, people within the country are able to afford travel and luxury that they have never been afforded in history. In my opinion, it was like going to a fine art museum and seeing a solid black canvas on the wall featured as the central, key piece of true art. Some art critics may stand around and create many artistic philosophies on such a piece that are totally subjective, and quite honestly, pointless. That's what you'll get at the Yellow River points of interest near Zhengzhou. A muddy, dirty, river with trash, water bottles and noodle bowls floating along as you stand along the edges seeing it for what it is or creating your own illusion in your mind. If your imagination is that creative, you could probably enjoy watching a retaining tank at a sewage treatment plant just as much. I was extemely disappointed with the cost, time and effort spent on seeing something I had always thought of from history as a grandeur, magnificent, natural wonder. I'd really like to be able to take some of the people who have these raving reviews to Niagra Falls and hear their take on a real force of beauty and nature.

We had a day spare in our trip through China, and some of the images looked quite nice in brochures. However, we went during the off season, and the park was quite dirty. In many spots there was literally piles of rubble and garbage. What we didn't realise was people actually live in the area, and at one point after getting lost I had a man threaten to hit me with a glass bottle for walking close to an area he and some people were hanging out.

I came to this park based on earlier reviews and as I don't have enough time to travel to Yan'an, I decided to go to the nearest Yellow River viewing spot in Zhengzhou.
I can't help to feel like I have walked into a theme park! Looking at the elaborate constructions of statues everywhere in the park, I was confused on what is the original view.
The bus ride to the park is very affordable and so was the entrance tickets. But in hot summer, you are most recommended to take the shuttle to move around the park. You have to pay extra for the buggy rides around the park (one loop) although if your intention is just seeing the Yellow River (the first stop), you can brace the heat.
At second stop, you are recommended to buy the chair lift tickets before dropping you off at the Yellow River Museum. There was really nothing at the summit except for another statue.
There were other buggy drivers or donkey owners encourages you to go to the other spots on the summit and, yes, you have guessed it, require additional charges for the rides as well as additional entrance tickets. The so called sites was one monument overlooking the Yellow River highway bridge.
Was totally disappointed with the park and its a total waste of money and time. Its definitely not my cup of tea.

Zhengzhou is not a place for tourism. However, the Yellow River Park is definitely a place to go. Besides, being a great workout walking around for many kilometres, there are surprises everywhere you go: fascinating sculptures, designs, walk-thru zoo, ups and downs, and of course, the quite unclean river, if you can bypass that. Zhengzhou is not a clean place, period. It is a bit out of town but well worth the trip if you stuck here.

The “Yellow River Scenic Spots” are an odd collection of attractions just north of Zhengzhou. First, you can ride a hovercraft out to a low muddy island in the river, where a group of elderly women nicely try to convince you to rent their ATV or go for a pony ride until it’s time to re-board the hovercraft for the return trip. The reason for the hovercraft soon became apparent; the river is loaded with sediment, which gives it it’s signature yellow-brown color but also creates numerous shallow areas and sandbars which would be otherwise challenging to navigate. Next, we saw the gigantic statues of Emperors Yan and Huang, sort of a Henan version of Mt. Rushmore. These are actually only about 12 years old; considering the huge plaza at the base, they appear to have been erected in order to create a site for patriotic rallies. We walked through the geologic museum and took the “cableway” up to a scenic overlook. The area feels more like a historic site, as the river and the surrounding fertile plains made this region the cradle of Chinese civilization, rather than a scenic spot.

Again, like the Scenic spots, Huang-he is a must see spot if you are in Zhengzhou. I thought I only go down and touch it with my bare hands. But no, there is a full hour cruise for 80 RMB and you go by with a hovercraft! It was a great fun, I never sit inside only read about this vehicle. Than you've got tons of information about the river (only in chinese altough), then reach your destination a small island, where you can go by cart, or just hop on a horse (20 RMB), or just watching the magnificent, sacred river. If you ever go to China, you need to do three things. See the Great Wall, go to the Temples, and touch the Yellow River, where this great civilization started over 5000 years ago.

my visit to the yellow rive and to the two emperors was in December 2023, so i suggest that the journey needs alot of times since its far from the centre of the city so of you suggest to go there try to go early and you can find tourist cars can take you to see this beautiful scene.
