I saw it a couple of times when in and around Zhengzhou and it is wide and it's muddy however while you are out and about in Zhengzhou you may as wrell see the river that is part of China's mythology.

I would avoid a stand alone visit. It is a pleasant choice but not with great views. The water is muddy and very turbulent.

It is about two hours each way from Zhengzhou, but the place is a must see. Totally worth the drive and the visit.

We passed by the Yellow river on several occasions during our stay in China. On each occasions it just looked like a big strech of filthy and dirty water. Really not worth seeing.

Invited with friends to drive there. An hour from town. The water was popular with many people. I 4WD Jeep invited us Laowai (foreigners) to join in the river crossing. A tight squeeze but fun. Lunch on a boat moored to the river's edge, caught...More

Always wanted to see the river but its disappointing after taking the long ride there. There is nothing special to see, just a river as usual.
