This is a smaller formal garden near Tongli old town. It is beautifully presented and, subject to visitor numbers, a pleasant retreat to compare and contrast modern times with old China.

Great for a stop while in Old town of Tongli. Not as impressive as the famous gardens in Suzhou, which I definitely recommend visiting, but still very pretty and well maintained.

This is a beautiful garden. However, it is also a fascinating testimony to a world in which women had to use back corridors, had no view of the beautiful landscape, and were generally not welcome in the main halls. I had the opportunity to tour this garden with a private guide, and would have missed many of the nuances without... More

A beautiful park laid out by one of the ministers of the last dynasty. He spend years on craeting this park, witj various buildings for relatives, concubines, guests and so on. When finished the originator died shortly after. Nice place to view, take pictures and sniff a bit of what old china used to be like

Very nice garden, I really love the lake and the ponts. It is actually not really different from other ancient gardens I have visited in Suzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai, but it was beautiful in its way, and very calm. There are many great corners for taking photo and relaxing. I will come back if I have chance to visit China... More

We saw several beautiful Chinese gardens while visiting there. Like the others, this one is also quite lovely and peaceful, even with the crowds of people. I had always assumed that there would be lots of flowers in the gardens; but not so. They are more designed to be tranquil peaceful places year round with the trees and rocks adorning... More

Pretty walk through yet another Chinese garden. Lots to reflect on. Quiet and full of history. Was a nice escape from the louder section of Tongli.
