Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Water Lily Street (Chinese name is 芙蓉街 or Furong Street) is where merchants have conducted business for over 2,000 years. During our walk on this pedestrian street, it appeared that 99% of the shoppers and sightseers were Chinese. There was a broad mix of shops and eateries. Chinese street foods available include rice cakes, glutinous rice balls, numerous types of Chinese dumplings, kebabs, fried silkworms, fried scorpions, candied Chinese hawthorns, onion pancakes, various Chinese soups, roasted baby pigs, and more.

In the evening, this ancient commercial street was crowded with tourists, many of whom were trying out the local Chinese cuisine and snacks.

A small alley where u can find different kinds of street food but you will find that they are all selling similar food if u keep walking. Although it is quiet crowded at the beginning of the street, you will find a nice and more quiet alley when you walk until the end. DO NOT STOP walking when u reach the end of the street, keep following the street on your right and you will find many trendy bar, cafe and vintage houses. MUST KEEP WALKING ✌🏻️✌🏻

Jinan does not have much place to visit. So visiting this street would be fine to kill time. A lot of people. Is this place very special? No. Can you find a similar street else where in China? Yes. Would I go back again? No.

I would rather recommend the other food street near Shimao, which is bigger and not as crowded.
The streets are wider and many side streets to venture. More varieties to choose.

Great place to get a feel for local living, with lots of choices for food including local ‘smelly tofu’ (not smelly really though!).

Furong Ancient Street in the center of Jinan is lived with old houses and ancient architecture. These days it is mainly a food street with a huge variety of street food. Take you pick, Dried scorpions, glazed octopus or grasshoppers. It a truly amazing street to visit and sample the local street cuisine.

A friend told me before I moved to China a friend who'd lived here said "China is a food culture." He couldn't have been more right. So you really ought to visit Furong Street where food of every sort is gobbled and savored. In addition to numerous food stalls there are restaurants so you don't have to only have street food.
The buildings share an ancient look and the favorite foods change with the trends. Bring your camera because there's plenty to capture here.
It isn't just food, though that dominates. There are craft shops and temples mixed in.
Avoid going on the weekends because hordes of tourists flock here then. It's right downtown, between the springs, the central square where there's a great light show at the fountain every night at 8pm, and within walking distance of Daming Lake.
