Located pretty far from the centre of the city, expect to travel by bus or cab 3 hours or so. Like the Badaling Great Wall of China, this scenic area is located in the mountains surrounded by trees and vegetations, very nice to see all the amazing green, fresh plants around this area. Scaling the mountain can practically take the... More

About 1 1/2 hours drive from Qingdao is the Laoshan Senic Area. along with stunning scenes and great walks, the area is also famous for it's green tea. There are "quaint" local restaurants, including some with tea tasting facilities. This is a place where you could spend days discovering, with tra gardens and spectacular coves and beaches.

We visited there during Spring Festival. We were anxious about that pubic transport could work, however, there were many local public buses to the visiter center. In the visiter center, foreign people have to show their passport. To pass a gate, you have to register your fingerprint. After riding a bus, you can arrive around Daqingfu. When moving to another... lao shan is simply a great visit - I would visit this mountain quite often - running with hash house harriers, hiking with a walking group and biking with friends around the mountain roads whatever takes your fancy this a great place to spend a day - particularly when the weather is right for your activity

As a foreign exchange student studying in Qingdao, I can say that Laoshan Mountain will be a highlight of your visit to Qingdao. If the smog isn't bad and the weather is comfortable, a hike up the mountain will give you some breath-taking views of the ocean and other mountains. I really can't recommend it enough. If you're physically fit,... More

I've been a longtime fan of mountain destinations in China, having been to many of the big ones in the past: Mt. Huang (where Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was filmed), Mt. Hua (home of steep drops and dangerous trails), Mt. Emei, several trips to Mt. Qingcheng, Mt. Yulong, and Jiuzhaigou. I had not really heard of Mt. Laoshan until I... More

Beautiful area to visit. There are a few hikes you can take to enjoy the scenic area. We had a local join us for the tour.

Most of the days, the air condition of Qingdao is too bad. You can't see anything clearly at the mountain.
