Good place for a hike
Apr 2021 • Couples
This attraction is only about 10 kilometers  away from Dujiangyan irrigation. So you should make a trip here if you are already in that area.

There is a lot of history on how Taoism evolved in this area. You will find  temples spread around the mountain on the front hill.

To enjoy nature and a good hike and this will be a place to visit.

Must go for taoism insight
Apr 2021
It's a really nice place to go early in the morning. Try to start the climbing before 9h30 with car cable or walking (bit more difficult and long). That's a place you have to go with guide as it will bring you a better understanding of Taoism approach versus Buddhism. One of the rare area were you are really in a nice country side in a nice surrounding with less than an hour driver from Chengdu.

First and foremost, I want to say that I recommend coming to see the Giant Pandas (if you are already in Chengdu) and this place will be worth your trip. However, I WAS BITTEN BY A RED PANDA. The enclosure for the Red Pandas have holes in the gates so the pandas can run from area to area. This was not on any of the signage so I was surprised to see a panda run right across the path in front of me. There are signs that say to be quiet and a different sign that something to the effect that these pandas can be aggressive. I was quietly walking through the enclosure, taking photos when a family came into the enclosure behind me. I heard their small children scream (I'm assuming they did that because they saw a panda on the path) which probably frightened the panda that ran right up behind my leg, grabbed me hard and bit me! I was bleeding and no one helped me - including the parents of tabout any possible danger to humans. The giant pandas are beautiful but you can see them at the Beijing zoo. I am so sorry I ever went to Chengdu. If this is your only reason to go to this city, go see the Giant Pandas somewhere else.

taoism birthplace and beautiful scenery
Sep 2020
mount Qingcheng is divided into front hill and back hill, very different atmosphere.
front hill is the birthplace of China Taoism and has many Taoist temple and historical sites like steles and ancient trees from Tang Dynasty (about 1300 years ago). the temples half covered with fog are like true fairylands. took me 4 hour and half to finish the whole route.
back hill is mainly natural scenery, waterfalls and strange giant rocks along the way. took me about 6 hours to finish the whole route.
here is an advice, try your best to climb instead of cable car, the roads are built well and not slippy even in rain. feel the vibe walking in the fairyland.

Nice historic Mountain with plenty of greens
Aug 2019
Lots of routes to explore - have to have strong legs though. Can easily spend an entire day there.

The cable car queue can take you one hour to get on, so you may want to consider going on foot.

Lots of greens and intersperse with lakes and gasping views.

Beautiful scenic spot
Jul 2020 • Couples
A good place to trek around and come close to nature. It's the birthplace of Taoism. Beautiful structure along way which is good to take photographs. A sports wear is a must as you need to walk and climb a lot also a dedicated partner who can complete the whole trek without complaining 😁

Be Ready for the Hidden Costs and steep steps
Dec 2019
Mount Qingcheng is a short distance away from Dujianyan. There is an excitement in the desire to reach the highest peak when climbing the mountain. However the steps up the mountain is quite steep, especially the last 30 minutes and can be slippery during winter. There are porters to help you up the mountain at a cost (though one does sympathise the porters who are in their 50s too). There is also a photo taking service a the top of the mountain which a beautiful temple, especially during winter due to the thick clouds. The air is filled with the smoke from the joss sticks. There is a certain level of accomplishment amid the achy legs when you reach the top. Hence, this is well recommended for travellers looking for adventure.

However, the main drawback of the area is the hidden costs you have to bear with to enjoy a complete experience. The site ticket is 80RMB. To proceed to the mountain, you have to 20 RMB for a 2 way mini bus journey to the river coast, after which you have to pay 10 RMB for a 2 way boat ride to an area closer to the mountain. There is also a 60RMB cable car to proceed to the base of the mountain before walking up. There is a need to factor in these costs when you are planning your trip. It is also difficult to avoid this payment as the journey without is much longer.

Do also take note of the different operating hours during winter. It opens 8.30am to 5.30pm from May to October, and 9am to 5pm from November to April. Overall, if you can get over the hidden costs and the physical requirements, this is well worth the trip.

Interesting excursion from Chengdu
Nov 2019
The mountain is very close to Chengdu, 20-40 min by High Speed Train, then by bus or taxi in 10-15 min to the base station. From here you can use the electric car to the main entrance of this park. But from there you must be able to climb stairs! After 10 min you reach the cable car station, if you do not want to use the stairs in this part of the accent to the mountain. At the top station you will continue to climb the steps to the "Palace" Temple. If the weather is good and you can expect a good view, we recommend to climb further on the steps to the top Pagoda. If there is no haze, you can enjoy a good view over the plain towards Chengdu. It is a money collector place. Entrance 80, Cable Car 60, Electro Car 10 RMB, beside the cheap normal Train and Bus Tickets.
