A picture of the past

I was a bit sceptical about visiting this site and happy that I did in the end. It is well worth the visit for a look into a real and still operational monastery.

This is a beautiful working monastery surrounded by old buildings. There is no charge to enter. The gardens are beautiful and the statues magnificent. Although photos are prohibited, I think you can get away with a picture or two from your cell phone as long as you are discreet about it.

Quiet place, there is a nice tea house next to the monastery where people drink tea/coffee and eat snacks

A brilliant monastery to visit. Go on a Saturday morning for a ceremony the monks do where they also have a service where they provide food

It was a very enjoyable visit. It is quiet and nice place to visit, you can walk around but like most Monastery's you can not take photos. The gardens were lovely and its a great place to take a day trip.

You can wander in the Monastery but can't take pictures of the Buddhas. The atmosphere is calm and quiet, some people are praying. There is a little garden and the monastery is very colorful and decorated.

I visited the Monastery yesterday and it was lovely to see the different groups doing Tai Chi in the gardens, the monks strolling around and to see a Buddhist service and hear the monks and others singing their refrains. There were places to sit if you were tired and locals chatting to each other.

The architecture and structures make this worth visiting by themselves Throw in the fact that there are some of the cities most delicious small restaurants nearby and it becomes a must visit.
