Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Local artists Obregon and Grau are featured. The Ruby Rumié installation is striking. The museum is in a charming old venue in Plaza San Pedro and is worth up to an hour of your time as you explore the old town.

It was a bit underwhelming if I’m honest. It wasn’t large, there wasn’t much to see and what was there wasn’t very interesting. There were a couple of interesting pieces from local artist Ernesto Grau, but nothing else caught my eye.

Fortunately it only cost COP10,000 for entry otherwise I would have felt cheated.

A very nice museum that has two floors and several exhibitions. We loved seeing the local art. Definitely would go back!

This is worth visiting to enjoy some of the modern/contemporary art of Columbia’s contemporary artists.

Tickets at this museum - which has a slightly amateurish, underfunded feel to it, unlike its namesakes in Medellín and Bogotá anyway - cost just COP $10,000 or around €2.50 per person. Or, if you like, about €3.00 an hour, since we managed to see everything in a little over 45 minutes. The collection features a mix of both modern and contemporary works, including familiar names like Ignacio Gómez Jaramillo and Fanny Sanin as well as a host of less-represented artists from Colombia and other Central and South American countries (Honduras, Nicaragua, Brazil et al.). There are many pieces by local artist Enrique Grau and his Cartagena contemporary Cecilia Porras, but I wasn't a fan of most of the latter if I'm honest. There's also an exhibition of works by all-female Colombian artists inspired by and in honour of Grau.

The most striking pieces for me in the collecting were Vicente Martinez' unsettling sculpture 'La Hamaca Grande' and Alejandro Obregón's painting 'Dedalo'.

Note that the museum requires you to climb stairs, that there's no air-conditioning and that next to nothing is in English.

You can see this museum in under an hour, it's a nice break from the sun although note that it isn't air conditioned. Modern art from Latin America

Very interesting and varied works of art to view in a building that itself holds great architectural value.

I was on a solo morning walk around the city and was looking for any open buildings / shops. This museum was open and I spent a lovely 30 minutes touring it. I think the entrance fee was equivalent to $4. Well worth it.

Right in the Centro the museum is worth a visit to see Latin American artists and some creative works. You only need about 45 minutes, since the museum isn't very large.

Advertized to be open on Monday the museum was closed. At 11 next day we took an hour to see it. Needed about 20 minutes. We do not know the history so hard to judge other than what you like. Only a few pieces but worth seeing and the square and setting lovely.
