We were impressed not only with the architecture and history of the wall city but also its vibrance, beauty and many options for shopping and dining. It's a perfect blend of history, the present, people, food and culture. We loved it all!

There area is pretty small and there are well placed signs around the important buildings in both Spanish and English. Some great photo opportunities of the colorful houses. Fun cafes and bars scattered around. Too many persistent vendors who won't take no for an answer...More

...are by far Cartagena's biggest attractions. Don't rely on your phone's GPS to navigate around the Walled City! The GPS systems all show numbered streets, whereas most maps show one name for each street. The difficult reality is that many street names in the Walled...More

Within the walled city of Cartagena you'll see the old colonial architecture - old buildings with marvelous balconies, many of which are draped in bougainvillea. Monuments, squares, churches, shops, street vendors, etc. For me old Cartagena is the main reason to be here. Sure there's...More

From the moment you land in Cartagena it is time to stop looking at your watch and slow down and flow with the heat. The cab ride from the airport should run you no more than 12,000 pesos, about $6 dollars. Upon entering the old...More

Heaven, awesome place, north part of the old town has a much cooler vibe than the tourist squares. It’s only 5 minutes from the centre but an amazing pretty walk

Enjoyed walking around the city that was so important in the history of Colonial South America and the Wars of independence. Only problem is the hoards of in your face street venders.

I was told by many friends to visit the old city at night, because it’s a different experience. Walking around and seeing the balconies and all of the little shops and restaurants was great. The live music in the plazas was a treat.
