About
This is the house where Rafael Nunez lived and died, a most illustrious Cartagenero who sat as president of Colombia at four different ocassions. Inside this house, fundamental ideas were born that later would create one of Colombia's biggest political reforms in the 19th Century: The Constitution of 1886. This was colombia's guideline document until 1991, year in which the current Carta Magna was signed.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When we went, it was one of the stops on the bus tour and we thought it would be an interesting museum. However, it was a disappointment. The second floor was under construction and there was nothing on the ground floor. No warning that it was undergoing maintenance or any relevant information. It looked like a ghost museum with nothing and no one to give information.

The 2nd floor of the house is under construction! The Visit is limited to a visit to a central garden on the 1st floor of the residence!
It gained a reasonable assessment due to the fact that we were received by the very pleasant guard Rodríguez, who had the courtesy to explain details of this part of Colombian history.

For anyone interested in architecture, history, culture, this historic house is worth a visit. And free. However, donations are sort of expected and appreciated. I was met at the entrance by a young Colombian man who spoke fluent English. He said he was doing an internship at the house. He was friendly, knowledgeable, well spoken, and obviously educated. He talked about the history of both Nunez, and his wife Soledad Ramon and her family. The house was originally built by Ramon’s father, a chemist who immigrated to Colombia from Spain.
I recommend a visit. And also using a taxi to get there; otherwise you have to walk on the sidewalk along a heavily trafficked avenue.

Casa Rafael Nuñez had been on my Cartagena bucket list for two years, got to tick it off today!
We had arranged for a your with Amaury, an amazing tour guide offering tours in both Spanish and English! Ask for him, it will be well worth it!!
We toured the living quarters of 4 term president Rafael Nuñez and his second wife Soledad Ramon, learning about his love of music (there's a piano in the house), Greek mythology (the park across the house is called "parque Apolo"), poetry (he's the author of Colombia's National Anthem) and saw this desk, from which he governed the country, he's to this day the only president based in Cartagena for a portion of his presidency. The house is well maintained, despite having been a hotel and market place prior to having been renovated and turned into a museum.
Just as important as Rafael Nuñez was to today's Colombia, a visit to this Museum should be on the top of your list!

This is not worth your time or money. When we arrived we were not allowed to go upstairs because people were already there. We found out later that the floors were very weak and in need of repair. There is not much to see and the furnishing are sparse.

Rafael Nunez's home is small but it has been well preserved and gives us a glimpse into the living conditions of Mr. Nunez (president).Tour of the house is provided by local students and you decide about the fee, since you pay whatever you want to. Our guide did not speak English but was very patient and skilled.

A really nice historic home but that's it. Appeared to be no one working their. Nothing in English. I appreciate this is a spanish speaking country but you couldn't buy or get a booklet or anything to provide information. This place really could be an awful lot better.
