Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's ok. Maybe it's better when the garden is in ful bloom. I went in January and the fountain was off and the flowers were sparse. The interior of the museum is a mix of religious paraphernalia/old school recreation of the family that used to live there. Interesting enough, but not worth it if you have to go 'out of your way' to visit.

This place is highly unusual - unlike any "real" stately home. Owner must have been slightly mad to have built this - very old fashioned, narrow corridors and lots of steps up and down, We agreed that the owner must have been "un poco loco".
Lovely grounds and a small cafe bar to have a coffee. Very pleasant visit.

I enjoyed the tour of the castillo. It's a 15 minute Uber ride away, and there's nothing else nearby to see, but worth a few hours of you have the time.
There were some fine porcelein figurine collections and chandeliers on display. The dining room and library were impressive rooms.

Go early. There is a long line (30 minutes minimum) in which guests wait to enter the grounds, whether or not they have prepaid tickets in hand. Guests are assigned the next available tour time upon entry at the gate, which is usually a 1-2 hour wait.

Tours are limited to about 18 people and are timed to begin every 15 minutes. The tour guides are on autopilot because there are always other tour groups just ahead and behind of each tour. No pictures are allowed inside the building.

Guests can wander the garden grounds while they wait, but there really isn't much to see other than the fountain and the castle building.

I recommend arriving early before opening to avoid the crowds and heat. It gets a bit warm while you wait in line at the entry gate, and then wander around the shadeless grounds. Also, the building does not have A/C. It was warm, but not unbearable.

Terrible place. Old, small, and falling apart. They don't allow women to enter with purses, so you have to leave them at reception. You cannot take any pictures inside the "castle". There are spies that are mixed in each group, and when they see people taking a picture secretly, they stop the whole tour and embarrass the person until they erase the pictures. This happened to a couple of people during our tour, and was ridiculous. They treat everyone like criminals and are extremely disagreeable. (since I know what people will say, I did not take pictures, nor is there anything there that is worth taking pictures of.) It was a very bad experience. Half way through we couldn't wait to get out.

By chance we arrived at this castle-style structure located in a large park overlooking the city.
The castle is owned by a famous family of Mexican and German origins who currently live in Europe.
Very large, well-kept, it is compulsory to visit with a guide who explains the birth of the place and the life of the family in this house.
Ticket at the entrance to the park, the large garden with fountains and a panoramic view of the city is beautiful.

If you’re stuck for things to do when visiting Medellin and would like to see something a little bit different/ escape the city for a while then definitely drop by here!

The ‘castle’ (a very uniquely built Manor House) is very ostentatious on the inside and the gardens are beautiful. My partner and I spent ages walking around and saw iguanas in the trees and all sorts of butterflies and birds. It’s a really peaceful place and a great way to spend a couple of hours. The cafe has some great freshly baked treats on offer too!

This is a very attractive ‘old’ house which obviously has a story to tell. Unfortunately we found the staff unfriendly in the extreme.

Tours leave on a regular basis and our guide seemed to be reading out an inventory (name of piece, date of production, origin) as we entered each room rather than bring to life the stories of the people that lived there. They are very clear that NO PHOTOS are allowed, but as they don’t speak English, this warning might escape you. One unknowing European was berated for pointing his camera around and told he could be asked to leave. The poor guy looked quite shocked!

We took the chance to eat lunch in the café and ran into a very stern employee who had the face of a person who has few friends (as they say in Mexico). Our anxiety levels remained high!

We both agreed this was the worst customer service we experienced during 10 days in Antioquia. Do the management read these reviews, I wonder? They should since a previous visitor (see June 2021 review) made similar comments.

I was impressed with with the quantity and quality of pieces of art in this museum. They were not collected from other locations and placed in this home. It is a well-preserved step back in time of a wealthy family with roots back to Germany. Do not miss an opportunity to visit the museum

This is a beautiful historial site to visit. The gardens are exquisite and lovely to walk through. Perfect for a picnic or walk about. You can pay for the garden tour alone or also include the tour of the castle. The castle is beautiful filled with historical furniture and antiques owned by the family that donated the site to serve as a museum. The balconies are wonderful for seeing picturesque views of Medellin. I am planning to return soon!!

It is a magical place, its gardens look like something out of a movie and not to mention the castle and the tour. There are places in the gardens where you can have a picnic or take beautiful photos. One can bring their own items and food for the picnic or make a reservation with decorations if they wish. Inside the museum they do not allow you to take photos and it is understandable, only in certain parts such as the terraces, there are many ancient objects to admire. It's a nice experience.
