We took the metro to Prado Station and walked 500m southeast, arriving at 10:30AM. Fortunately there were services and all doors open. Built in 1875, both the weathered orange interior and the fresh red exterior are constructed of 1.12 million bricks. Even the rows of tall round columns are out of bricks, leaving only the dark wood benches/ceiling to contrast.... More

We walked here from the Bolivar park and it's not far. We could not enter because it was closed, so if you really want to enter you should check the opening times prior. The cathedral is beautiful and there's lots of people sitting around enjoying the sun. There's also a statue of Simon Bolivar outside to see.

We went on purpose to pay a visit. This was Thursday 4pm and the cathedral was totally closed !!!! From the outside nothing stands out ....the surrounding area including a the large square and garden are quite unsafe !

We called the tourism number in the brochure to make sure the church will be open when we arrived. They said it would be open all day, but we arrived at 1:30 pm and it was closed. It is very pretty from the outside next to a nice park. Someone in the park told us it was only open during... More

Check your times before going, the plaza in front of the church is nice. I visited on a Wednesday at 5, they opened 5:15 and the mass was celebrated at 6pm

This cathedral is huge and all made of bricks. It is spacious but not particularly well-lit. The building seems relatively modern and the art is unremarkable. The park across is nice, but we were told to be careful at night, in any case, this is a big city and awareness is a must. However, we felt safe walking around.

Huge cathedral next to a nice park. There was singing inside when I went by. Easy access from the other major attractions.

Colonialism was a historical stamp for Latin America and Colombia has plenty of locations to admire, learn about Latinos roots as well as beautiful people to enjoy each block on this city. The Medellin Metropolitan Cathedral is located in a very populous locations with easy access to many more amenities; shopping centers and discos. No tourist guide needed because everyone... More

This is a beautiful and clean cathedral from the outside next to a nice tree filled park for relaxing. There is a statue of Simon Bolivar as well.
