Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Park was named in 1892 after the leader of the independence of Colombia, Simon Bolivar. It reaches from the end of Junín streets pedestrian walkway, to the Cathedral steps.
It is full of large trees, with an equestrian statue in its center, added in 1923 of Simon siting on a standing horse, (which means he died in bed not in battle) designed by the Italian sculptor Giovanni Anderlini and cast by the Italian sculptor Eugenio Maccagnani.
When we were there it was impossible to enter the park, as it was undergoing some serious construction work but we did manage to walk around the perimeter and enjoy looking at all the shops and the Cathedral. The famous San Alejo Market is held on the first Saturday of every month.
TIP: Like all street markets, keep your eyes open for the unexpected.

In this park, each first saturday of every month, we have Mercado de San Alejo; this is a traditional market for craftwork. I recommend it, a very hippie enviroment, music and crazy things.

Large tree shaded park in front of the metropolitan cathedral. It has plenty of benches and is popular with the locals. Not much to see other than the statue of Bolivar.

Had not visited the park and the monthly artesian/flea market in some time. Visiting family thoroughly enjoyed it, finding lots of small treasures to take back to the US. Hats, bags, jewelry and pan flute. Always a great place to find plants, especially bougainvillea and bonsai.

Like many of the other reviewers, we visited this park as part of a walking tour and heard that some illegal activities take place. As we sat on the steps I looked at the people (locals) who were sitting on park benches. I smiled at them, they smiled back and appeared to be very warm and welcoming. That being said - you should still be careful and cautious and don't go here at night.
If you are a fan of Narcos, you might notice that in the last episode of season 2, Pablo visits this very park. Pretty cool that we were right here!

It's a beautiful park, it's has a monument in memory of the leader of the independence of Colombia, Simon Bolivar, and it has a church very near, in the north of the park.

Evidently, this park can be dangerous. We did not find it so. But we were told drugs were being sold/done and working girls were along one street. But there were also lots of old Medellin citizens enjoying the park.

The Park is very nice ithad an excellent fountain, places to walk, and houses for birds, trees of hundreds of years make the park look great, pity that is full of homeless people bathing in the fountain and asking for money
