We just had the most spectacular day with our guide Carlos visiting Guatape, The Rock and Pablo Escobar summer compound. Carlos was very informative and took us around all the locations showing us intricate details along the way. We loved the tour of Escobars house and the boat ride along the lake, you get to see history as well as modern info like Colombian footballers houses. Visiting The Rock is an absolute must, the veiws are breathtaking and definitely worth the struggle of the climb up the stairs. A fantastic tour and a fantastic guide ... 5star

My girlfriend and I had a great time on this trip and experienced so many modes of transportation. We all piled into the van and heading a couple of hours to see one of Pablo Escobar's homes. A short distance from there we switched to Jeeps and were lucky enough to get a spot on the roof while we drove drown a gravel road. It was a great vantage point and definitely not something you get a chance to do everyday! Our tour guide, Alex, was super informative and gave us a tour of the Escobar's compound with the history of both him and Colombia's drug trade. We then had lunch before departing by boat to head to a swimming spot and Guatepe. We got a little wet on the boat ride, but it was all in good fun and then spent about 45 minutes at a spot where we would relax or take a dip in the water. After that, we headed to Guatepe to wander around the small town and take in the sights. We loaded back up in the Van and headed to hike up the big rock. The view was spectacular and you could really see how much the land had flooded over the years due to the Dam. After that, we headed back home and got in pretty late due to the traffic. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed our guide, Alex, as well as all of the other people that helped with the tour!

I booked this trip at short notice with two friends. We left el poblado park at around 9am and departed to the rock, which offers great views of guatape and the reservoir. We then went on via bus to some boats, sailed through the reservoir and stopped for swimming. The next stop was the Escobar mansion which is also where we ate lunch (in the former nightclub on the estate). The tour was not a glorification of Escobar but a very personal account given by our excellent guide Alba. The trip finished with a walk around guatape proper, which we reached by jeeps (with the option of riding on the roof!) Overall and for 125k pesos a great day out, with a variety of activities included, the rift amount of time spent on each and attentive and friendly tour guides. Lunch was also included.

4x4, Escobar’s Mansion and history of Colombia cartel issues, Speed Boat, fresh water swimming, rock jumping, Guatape town exploring, The Rock (incredible views), with the 2 loveliest and brilliant English speaking Colombian tour guides I’ve met. For 125,000 pesos. That’s less than £35... I mean that’s bonkers!!! We left at 9am, back at 7pm and it was just brilliant from beginning to end. It’s my last day in Colombia tomorrow so didn’t know if I had the energy!!! So glad I made the decision to go. Kind of sums up my whole 2 week trip round Colombia, wonderful people, incredible culture and from my experience the safest trip I’ve taken in a long time. People seem to have a weird perception that Colombia is dangerous for tourists. That’s a long time ago now and everyone not traveling here out of concern for safety are doing themselves a travelling misjustice. Colombia, Medellin and this trip in particular are must do life experience.
