We got a boat across from Santa Marta which was really cheap but it was the first week of new year and the crowds were insane. It took us 20 mins to find a spot to put our towel down. I'm sure it would have been nice as the sea seemed quite clear.

Playa Blanca is a bit of a missed opportunity. Beautiful beaches and charming beach huts. However it's far too overcrowded and there is very little attention to customer service across the board. It's worth visiting but don't expect a smooth ride.

This place is CROWED, we arrived at 11am and couldn't find chairs or any shade. The food is twice as much as in other beaches. The beach has very rocky sand that hurts your feet and is painful to walk (take shoes!). The water is cold, and the beach is very very deep within few feet from shore.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches I've sunbathe on. Not very crowdy but peaceful and away from muggers from the mainland Santa Marta's beach LOL. You get there by boat to the island (10-15 minutes), staying there until you decided to go back - by boat too.

Considering beaches reachable with a simple bus from city center, playa Blanca is the best choice in my opinion. You have to take a boat from el rodadero for 15.000 COP (with return included). Remember to bring cash with you if you wonna have lunch there (pescado for 25/30 kcop)

Playa Blanca is well worth the $4 USD ferry ride to spend the day at the beach here. Do not join up for a 'tour', just go to the boat ferry and get a roundtrip tix with a ferry company called TaxiMarino for $4 USD. The beach water in Rodadero is not as pretty as this! Also, if you haggle... More

The beach is very very crowded and people try to sell you all kind of things. When we were getting of the Boat we already had 5 people standing around us trying to sell us beer, food, bracelets etc. while we had lunch we rented a 'tent' with another couple and people stopped by every minute to try to sell... Since the beaches in Cartagena aren't so nice, I decided to go to Playa Blanca. Many hostels offer a shuttle but to take you there, but otherwise it might be cheaper to rent a taxi. The beach itself is very touristic, but further up the beach it is less crowded. There are hostels all along the beach, so if you... More

Too many people and polluted badly 20 feet behind. Great tho if u walk a bit down, just be wary of rain and constant constant people selling everything and not taking a no!
